Hey fellow nerds, I need the Antec LanBoy Air and HDD cage experts to show up and lend me your attention and expertise.
This historic, groundbreaking modular PC case came with the cutting-edge AirMount HDD suspension system that effectively reduced vibrations and noise from internally installed hard drives. Unfortunately, they were made with an inferior type of rubber that DISSOLVES over time. ALL mine have dissolved. 🤦🏿♂️
Of course the legendary, decade-old case AND AirMount HDD components have long since been discontinued by Antec and I need a solution in order to efficiently house my 5 HDDs and 3 SSDs. I'm not too worried about the SSDs as I can squeeze them in or stack them on top of each other if necessary since they have no moving parts to worry about.
Do any of you faithful LanBoy Air owners or handy hardware techs know of a workaround? I found 1 solution but it requires a certain type/style of PCI slot cover that I can't find. A 5-rack 3.5in HDD cage seems possible but I need help with making sure that the one I decide to purchase will actually fit AND be secured in the vintage case and I'm not too savvy when it comes to measuring and fitting non-propriety components. 🙄
Any and all assistance will be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!
