I actually do get good pull through the upper HDD cage....I have 2 Noctua's.....one at the front of the case for intake, and a 2nd at the rear of the cage which you can see in the pics to help push that air across the vga and also to the 9500.

Yeah. The Noctuas aren't cheap, but they are absolutely top notch. But you can get a Silverstone to push 110cfm if you want......it'll sound like an airport in your room though 😉

My rig is setup for quiet. So the tradeoff is some extra cost and no supreme performance. But for a bit of extra $$ and some patience, I got a barnstormer that I can barely hear at all 😀

should i get the antec P180 case?
how is it in cooling, sound muffling, and just aesthetics?
i am 14, so i want my case to be cool looking, but ive realized that mabye having a LED light on all the time, next to my LCD might not be that cool...

so idk, jsut tell me everything you know about it, what you think about it, and its value at 80 bucks...

and compare it to mabye another 50 to 80 dollar case....

thanks.

Where can you get it at $80? It's $130 at newegg.

Why do you have only 2 fans? what happened to the one in the top

how can you put 2 fans in the upper HDD cage. I thought there was a max of 5 fans in the P180:
-rear
-top
-upper HDD cage (if you have nothing in those 3 5.25 slots
-middle HDD cage (if you have nothing there)
-bottom PSU wind chamber

I'm still not really sure where these "optional" fans go...

But do you guys think i will REALLY need them?

if i get the scythe for, say $40, it would be the definite one for my needs:

-keeping my CPU way below stock cooler levels at stock speeds and abov at most 3.2 Ghz

-being extremely quiet with, or without the included fan

-easy to install (ive heard its dificult, especially for a "hands on" noob liek me)

-reusable and long lasting, good warrentyy, and good tech support

Now would you guys recommend jsut gettin the OEM version of any kind of proc, as it saves money, and u dont need the cooler, or should i play it safe, spend the 10 extra bux, and get a good warrenty?
(me = "hands on" noob, not "concept" noob)

With my setup (e6600, 8800GTS, Tuniq tower) I could run the P180 with the stock fans at low settings (almost inaudible) and there wouldn't be any temperature problem. The air felt lukewarm in the rear exhaust, but not hot.

I am changing the fans for Noctuas and adding some because I want to overclock, but want to keep it as silent as possible. I will do that with the fans that give the most CFM (Noctuas) at low rpm and run many of them (or I could have turned up my current fans, but would lose my silence).

wouldn't be worse than most other cases.

The benefit of having the PSU in a separate chamber would outweight the little loss in airflow caused by cabling.

wait, so ur tellin me that just putting on an aftermarket cooler, voids any warranty by intel or AMD

your also saying taht if i overclock it, i void the warranty (understandable).
if i overclock it, but then put it back to stock, they cant find out, right?

if i use an aftermarket, but then need to use the warranty, and then take it off, and reinstall the stock cooler, they cant find out, right?

and, final question, if i just run either intel or AMD at stock speeds, would a scythe ninja be worthwhile, with the overclocking happening in the future when newer games come out?

So dude, i think i might have to get the x2 3600, as i dont think i have the balls to ask the guy if i can gte c2d when the rest of the class doesnt.

you're sure ill be happy with it, it will be easily be able to play the latest games for 3 years (possibly oc'ed) with the scythe ninja, and not bottleneck my 8800gts?

Dunno about "play games for 3 years". Who knows what'll be out in three years? Might need a plug-in GPU with its own power supply 😉

It shouldn't bottleneck your GTS as long as you're playing at least a decent (1280) rez.

oh, yeah, def, i've been planning on getting a 20-inch widescreen (almost always 1680 x 1050) since i've thought ive building my own compy.

idk, i just wish i could get the c2d instead, it owns. ^^

To change a processor, you must make an offering to the Processor Gods, wait for the proper planetary alignments, the flowers to be in bloom, and must have one eye closed while playing Barry White in the background...........

Yep, that's how it's done. I know, I've tried it.

😛

You just unscrew the HSF, lift the CPU out, put thermal paste on the new CPU, put in in, screw in the HSF. Done. 😀

so, any final thoughts guys?

oh, and im sure the physical part of the CPU changing is easy, but the software part? dont u have to mess wit ur BIOS and windows and shit?
