Looking for a motherboard that supports the Phenom II X6 1065 CPU that I can use ECC Memory with. Looking to use my old pc parts and make a home NAS with FREENAS

Solution

to actually get around to answering your question, instead of questioning why you want to run EEC memory, this should help you out: https://pcpartpicker.com/forums/topic/99616-asus-am3-motherboards-support-ecc-memory

and this is pulled from the AMD technical documents for AM3+ CPUs:
http://support.amd.com/TechDocs/49686_15h_Mod_00h-0Fh_FX-Series_PDS.pdf

• Integrated Memory Controller
• AMD Memory Controller PowerCap
• Low-latency, high-bandwidth
• DRAM Prefetcher:
• Adaptive prefetching support
• 32-entry DRAM prefetch table
• Differentiate between core prefetch requests and core demand requests
• ECC checking with double-bit detect and single-bit correct
• 144-bit DDR3 SDRAM controller...

With ZFS it's the security of not potentially trashing all the data in your pool by having a faulty memory stick polluting the hash values during a scrub. ECC memory is explicitly recommended for systems with ZFS for precisely this reason.
