(for the most part), as long as the CPU works in the board it doesn't matter whether you're using a $60 board or a $200 board, you'll get the same performance, provided you're not overclocking.

the MSI z97 gaming 5 does overclocking, don't spend money where you don't have to.

I ordered a gtx 980ti and going to get 16gb of ram plus a 1440p monitor
