Any device to project hard copy writing on to a screen?

I hope all of you are doing well.

Aside from hovering a webcam over a page/book and projecting over a screen (or Monitor for that matter), is there any specifically assigned device that is used for the very purpose of scanning a document and producing it on a screen in real-time.

I have never really heard of any, while my parents have suggested now and then about the existence of some 'document cameras' for this purpose.

I may not be able to land at the point accurately, but I'd be glad to receive some ideas on the same.

My first thought was honestly one of those overhead projectors from back in school.

Teachers typically use a device called a document camera or a visualizer. There are many types and price ranges, but you can find them in a google search.
