Hi All,

I use the simple but efficient Google PW Manager, and noticed that they now offer 'on-device encryption'. It feels like it should be a no brainer, but I wanted to ask if there are any drawbacks I'm not thinking of. Does it slow anything? Does it impact syncing? Or is it essentially invisible and just added security.

In short, is there any reason I wouldn't enable it?

Thanks for any direction and cheers!

P.

Solution
The key word(s) here are on-device essentially meaning that all your passwords will be encrypted locally to that particular device. If something happens to that device, you will not have the key(s) necessary to recover your passwords in the event of a fatal issue with your device.

I would err on the side of caution and not use that option.

Well, that is a hella great answer and rather obvious in retrospect.
Thank you. Status quo it is and cheers!
