Hello,

I have an ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0 motherboard and a Ryzen 5 5600 CPU.
I'm looking to upgrade my RAM from 2 x 4GB to 2 x 16GB. I was looking at Corsair Vengence RAM but I saw in this post that it doesn't really work well with Ryzens. Is this true? And if so, what do you guys think of these RAM kits instead? Maybe you guys could suggest some RAM kits too.

Also, I have a mini-tower PC case. Do I need low-profile RAM or is it just nice to have?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

You can technically work with any kit of ram, just make sure you're on the latest BIOS version for your motherboard. Prior to the BIOS version that had 1.2.0.5 A.G.E.S.A code(I think), you needed to work with ram kits that had Samsung's B-die on them or if you were working with G.Skill ram kits, you had to look for Flare X series or the Neo range of kits from their lineups.

Either of those kits should be a drop in solution. I'm not located in Italy(using the .IT extension from the Amazon URL's you've provided) so I can't tell which one's cheaper.

I have a mini-tower PC case.
Make and model of your case? Make and model of your cooler?

My case is the Cooler Master Masterbox Q300L and I'm using my stock CPU cooler.

That case was met with the worst of reviews. It's essentially an oven to cook your parts inside. To also add, the motherboard you're working with has a lackluster VRM design, coupled with the fact that the Ryzen 3000 and 5000 series stressed the VRM area of the motherboard(due to their higher power draw). You should change the case to something that has better airflow.

That being said, you shouldn't run into any clearance issues with the stock cooler.

G.Skill memory designed for Ryzen motherboards has the word NEO on it. It looks like this:

g.skill / samsung b is probly the best and most overclockable

kingston fury beast/renegade/hyper x tends to be hynix cjr which is less flexible than samsung b just so you can make an informed decision based on your spending preference. I picked up some kingston 32gb ddr4 3200mhz for £50 recently there seemed to be temporary dip in price woohoo for me that threw my plans out the window since I've never seen 32gb for £50 anywhere before so I just went for it. but only a couple of weeks later the price shot up again from the exact same vendor. Whether it was a goof or just a fluctuation in the market I was watching at that moment. And soon was able to tweak the timings to 1:1 fclk /3600mhz with my cpu and the bandwidth improved alot. Not as much as b die might have but nobody's getting b die for £50 quid either.

Kingston also has some samsung b kits but they are also a bit pricier. You'd have to decrypt the 'memory support list' and find vendors who sell what you're looking for with the search engine that can direct you to similar kits but not the exact one you have decided to try and find. They caught on to that ol wheeze years ago so now you pay for every mhz as they say and a good hit of some very good ram at a tight price that you can massage the timings a bit is probly harder than it used to be.

There are lots of vendors, adata, teamgroup, patriot etc. so searching them all reading benchmarks does not help to cure you of blurb or impulse buying what you want etc. and is rather mind boggling. It's keeping unfamiliar strings of numbers in your head that's the hardest part.
