There seemed to be good under dog vibes when the 9070xt launched at $599. With the card selling at $800-$900 instead, is any of that vibe left?

You mean 9070XT.

The answer to the question is relative;

Nvidia might've solved their driver issues but AMD's drivers often times mature as time goes on, whereby they unlock performance from their own hardware. To add, reviewers have stated that the RX 9070 XT and the RTX5070Ti are on par with each other, so if you get the RTX for cheaper, you go with that and vice versa for AMD's card.

Ofc, goes without saying, if what you need to do with your proposed GPU purchase favors a particular camp, go with said camp, not against the grain.

Depends on where you are really. Here the cheapest 9070XT is 140 euro cheaper than the cheapest 5070ti while if you go for model parity like Gigabyte 9070XT vs Gigabyte 5070ti, the difference is over 200 euro. Of course the Gigabyte 9070XT is more expensive than the cheapest 5070ti so there's no real right answer to the question.

Sometimes you have to watch for deals as well. I’m in the USA and purchased my 9070xt from a Microcenter store for $700. At the time the cheapest 5070ti was $825 there. So of course I got the 9070xt. Now a 9070xt there costs $800, which are probably the more premium models. But in the case of when I got my card they must have had a shipment of them come in because on the weekend before I got the card, their site started showing they had more than 25 of the card I purchased.

So basically I’m saying if you really want a lower priced card you may have to be patient and bide your time. You may not get msrp unfortunately but in my case at least I was a good bit under the 5070ti. If it would have only been a $50 dollar difference I likely would have gotten the nvidia card instead. But for me i was fortunate they came into stock. Deals are out there you just have to be ready to jump as soon as you see it.

Yes because if you don’t they’ll probably give up on gaming cards all together and like Nvidia focus on their AI cards … and you’ll never see any real price competition not that there is much today in the future on the GPU front.
