I think, Most people will pair i3 or FX-4100 with a 6850/6870.

An i3-2120 costs $125 (Normal Price)

The i3-2100 is $15 more expensive or ~13% more expensive than FX-4100. When paired with 6850, you can see in tom's hardware article that. These are all stock speeds:

You see very little difference, which makes this processor a pretty good value, with added features like overclocking capabilities.

So nekulturny gives a pretty good point. I'm against people who say this processor is an 'Utterly crap faildozer', I'm not a fan either and I agree this processor could have been better, much better I mean, Like I said before. If they shrink Deneb or Thuban and put more transistor there, It can make these processor much better.

Also, they can be found for the same price if you live near a microcenter.

i3= An overpriced dual core only useful to people that will ONLY game, because any i3 is better served as a beer coaster when it comes to the rest of the computing world.

FX= A decent budget quad (kinda) No it didn't live up to all the hype AMD built up but it still handles most computing tasks with ease.
Sure maybe it's a couple FPS behind the i3 and who really gives a damn between 40 and 43 ? It is a scientifically proven fact the eye cannot see past 30-33 FPS (depending on the person) So if you really want to try and legitimize a dual core CPU because it gets more FPS in gaming that you cant even see while getting it's ass kicked at most everything else than go ahead, I'll be more than happy to laugh at your ignorance.

With stocks of phenom II's being quickly depleated the FX is the best choice for a well rounded budget system as it out performs anything intel has to offer at the price point. This may change if the price on SB drop enough with the release of ivyshrink but that is yet to be seen.

The only reason I think it's "utterly crap faildozer" is because it is worse than Phenom II (deneb/thuban) in games (it also performs worse in other areas, but we're talking about games so I'll limit myself to picking on it in games). It's the first time I'm aware of a CPU manufacturer releasing a new chip that actually performs worse than its old chip in games. And while there is not a large difference between FX-4xxx and i3-21xx, there IS a difference and if you want to talk about which chip is "better" or "better for the money", you can't just ignore that and say "they're the same".

It's not "utter crap faildozer" compared to a core i3. It's not as good as a core i3, but what makes it "utter crap faildozer" is that none of the FX chips lived up to the expectations AMD set for them, and in many ways FX is not even an upgrade from the old architecture. That's a fail. It would be similar to a hypothetical scenario where Sandy Bridge had the performance of Nehalem in games. New architectures are expected to perform better, and FX doesn't. On average, it's about the same.

OK it's up to you if you want to call it 'utter crap faildozer', but I don't want to just because they're still competitive to the i3. I already know from the ages ago that this processor is worse than the older generation processor, which really really really (I mean really) is a big mistake for all of us who expect FX to be really good. If this is worse than Phenom II YET it really can't keep up with i3, I would say it's an utter crap faildozer.

Your "better because gets more FPS" argument is more applicable in situations where both systems would be displaying less than 30 FPS. Ya know noticeable situations, not just bragging rights. Or another situation would be the true "high end enthusiast" arena where somebody just spent $1,200+ and expects ultra performance but then again were not talking about i3's and FX's in that arena now are we ?

It's a SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN FACT that my old pentium 4 runs at 2.4 THz on air and blows everything out of the water by running games at 250 fps so everyone who is buying new CPUs is just a sucker because there's no noticeable difference between what you have and my p4, and if there is a difference it just shows my p4 to be better anyways. Prove me wrong.
