Is there any DIY solution to improve side protection? Installing a net or something .

Kind of the whole point to the P3, and similar open air chassis, is that it IS open. But if you wish to provide some amount of protection then I'd say yes, some kind of net or mesh would probably be your best option although I can't say how it's going to look aesthetically.

Maybe something like this, or similar to it.

Or a clear/transparent vinyl mesh screen material might work as well.
