Hello,

I was wondering if some of y'all had some tips on getting better performance in games? They run fairly well as is just defaulting to ultra settings but I think some room for improvement is open.

Specs:
Mobo - Asus Strix Z690A
Ram - G.Skill Ripjaws V 64GB
CPU - Intel i7 12700K
GPU - MSI 3080 TI
Storage - 2 Samsung M.2 (one 500GB for OS, one 1TB for apps)
PSU - Corsair 1,000W Gold
Cooler - Lian Li 360

What monitor unless your using a 4K monitor or TV it should run everything fine.

EDIT if your using a 4K monitor then lower your settings to High instead of being hung up on Ultra.

What performance are you getting now? What performance do you want to get? Do you just want to tweak with the settings on your system or are you willing to upgrade?

This is a fairly open ended question here.
Getting around 120-140FPS ultra on COD.
60-120 on Starfield on ultra.
300+ on LoL
300+ on CSGO
144+ on SWBF2

Don't see a need to upgrade just want to know if there are system settings, in game settings, or some overclocks that need to be done :)

Want to get at least 144+ on all games while running high-ultra

Assuming there's nothing wrong with the system:
  • Touching the OS configuration in a manner that requires administrative privileges (i.e., causes the UAC prompt to show) isn't recommended. Not only does this not really help with performance, but it could cause "unexplainable" issues later down the road.
  • You could try tweaking the video card using MSI Afterburner by way of undervolting/overclocking, but cards these days overclock themselves to near their limit anyway. At best you're looking at is maybe 2-3% better performance in benchmarks with precise scores.
  • Overclocking the CPU isn't really going to help since the CPU is more than capable of pushing 120FPS in everything at the minimum.
  • While driver updates may help, it only applies to the games specifically listed in the driver updates. There's almost never a driver update that helps across the board, at least on NVIDIA and AMD's side.
So basically... while there are things you can do, you're only going to see maybe a handful of percentage points of improvement.

Nothing is wrong or needs improving except you think everything needs to be ultra on a CRAP game like starfield!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Starfield runs like crap on a lot of PC's, SWBF2 is also very poorly optimized more or less just uses a couple cores of the processor.

Not sure what your trying to gain LOL.

Don't forget finding and removing FPS robbing bloatware in your system.

The less your CPU and memory is tasked with programs you don't really need, the better.
