[SOLVED] Any way to combine 2 different computers together to do 1 single compute task?

I have a spare laptop sitting around which has a 6th generation i3. I was thinking is it possible to hook it up onto a network and use its resources for my primary desktop. Let's say for unpacking repacks (games), decompressing files. Mainly CPU intensive stuff.

Hooking up a PC to home network allows you to access/share contents of specified folders on it's HDD --- that's all.
