Any way to make Laserjet 3200 work with Windows 7?

I have a trusty dusty HP Laserjet 3200. There are no W7 drivers for this model yet and the Vista 64 drivers don't work and can't be installed in compatibility mode.

Are there any other drivers out there that will work with the Laserjet 3200 and W7 and give me basic functionality or am I just SOL until HP releases some drivers? P.S., If I sound clueless about how print drivers work, it is because I am.

Yes, I helped you remember the last topic you created just a few days ago on the exact same question. When you retardedly start multiple topics on the same question, you apparently need assistance keeping tabs on them.

Wow, just wow. Very poor job of moderation.

If you still have access to a vista machine, you could install the drivers there. Make sure you pay attention to where it extracts the files. copy the extracted files over to a flash drive then use the device manager in win7 to install the printer.

Psy,

Thanks. I considered that but it seems no matter what I try, Windows 7 just doesn't want to work with my Laserjet 3200. Understandable in a way, because it is an older printer, however, W7 DOES support HP printers older than this. They just seem to have left out the 3200 series (very common printer) for some reason know only to M$ & HP.

Installed latest PCL 6 Universal Print Driver from HP for the 3200. There is not an option for USB on either the existing port or when choosing to Create a new port.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I was able to add the 3200 on Windows 7 from the driver mentioned above but only if connected locally. Then was able to share to another Windows 7 machine.

I was not able to add the printer via network from my Windows Home Server. So now I'm the shared host instead of my Home Server.

Thanks

Here are the exact instructions of how to do it:

I don't see anything on this link mentioning the HP Laserjet 3200. Is the info still there? I am a total non-techie so maybe I am missing something? Thanks for your help. M

I have been struggling with this since we (in my house) bought new laptops. I just can't understand why Microsoft produces an OS which doesn't work with existing hardware.

I've got Linux on my machine and have been able to get the printer to work, very easily, over a network using the standard PPD file. It seems bizarre that HP, which ships its PCs with Windows pre-installed, and Microsoft can't work this out.

I know printers are cheap - but why should I fork out money when the current hardware works? And how does chucking out a perfectly serviceable machine help with environmental sustainability?

Thank you, ijack. This is my first post and I too am trying to network print over to my trusty HP Laserjet 3200 with my new windows 7 laptop. But I can't seem to find the Windows Update in the Add Printer Dialogue that you mentioned. Also, I did a windows update and the only change was something about malicious software removal. Thank you for any help...
