I have a trusty dusty HP Laserjet 3200. There are no W7 drivers for this model yet and the Vista 64 drivers don't work and can't be installed in compatibility mode.

Are there any other drivers out there that will work with the Laserjet 3200 and W7 and give me basic functionality or am I just SOL until HP releases some drivers? P.S., If I sound clueless about how print drivers work, it is because I am.

Thank you so much for your quick response.

I tried the Windows Update idea but found only a short list of Deskjet and Photosmart series drivers available. However, selecting Have Disk, I was able to install one of the three printer drivers available with Windows 7. Dont' know if it works as I don't have a parallel port on my new laptop. My desperate need is to print to the shared HP Laserjet 3200 over the Linksys Network which I believe requires a network/wireless install.

Previously, I tried to install the new driver which I downloaded from HP, but received an error message: Windows Can't Open Install Printer Driver. Perhaps you have another idea?

On the screen where you select the port you need to select "Create a new port", rather than selecting the parallel port. Make the new port a "Standard TCP/IP Port" and enter the IP address of your networked printer. For the Port try leaving it blank, or if that doesn't work try 9100.

3200 Laserjet disk failed in Win 7 install. Used Laserjet 4100 PCL6 driver straight out of Win 7 driver list and named printer Laserjet 3200. Worked great and easy. Printer is networked via HP printer Ethernet networking hub; but see no reason why it should not work in any set up. :bounce:

I spent days trying to get my HP 3200 to print on Windows 7. I kept trying to do what people have been posting here and on the Lost Circuits forums. My initial problem was the HP 3200 was not showing up as an option after I tried to Add Printer. For awhile, the only option for existing ports were COM, LPT, and USBvirtual. On later attempts, the options for USB did not show up. However, my other printers showed up (CutePDF, Canon MX310, BullZip, etc) AND this:

DOT4_001 (HP LaserJet 3200 Printer)

I chose that as my port and chose (without changing the name) HP LASERJET 4100 SERIES PCL6.

I have been able to print out a test page.
