I'm kicking myself over here... Came home and plugged my usb-c cable to my desktop and accidentally put it in the USB-A port instead of USB-C and the PC immediately shut off. When I wait about 20 seconds I can power up the PC again. Did I short circuit my motherboard or power supply or what, any guesses? Is there a risk I damaged RAM, GPU, CPU or SSD ?
Thanks for reading.

Solution
Most likely just shorted positive to ground. Your power supply should automatically shut off when that happens to protect any other components from damage. If anything you just accidentally proved an important safety mechanism in your system works lol. Don’t stress.
