Anyone ever see anything like this...?

My GPU is showing 0c, 0 load etc and it won't respond if I crank up the fan speed.

It looks the same in Catalyst Control Center.

Test #1 - Each card (without the other) in the middle slot
Results: Both GPU's work, AND I can change the fan speed

Test #2 - Each card (without the other) in the top slot
Results: Both GPU's work, AND I can change the fan speed

Test #3 - Both cards in, without CF
Result - Can change both cards fan speed, both showing correctly.

Test #4 (final test, intended setup) - Both cards in, with CF turned on
Result - I am unable to change the fan speed on GPU2. Any games are only utilizing GPU1 and not GPU2.

This is a CrossFire issue. As evidenced with the tests above.

Any help on resolving it would be appreciated, I am heading out to the store now to buy a new crossfire bridge.
======================================================

Win8.1
HD6970 (2x in CF)
i7 2700k
P8P67-V Pro Deluxe

- I took the card out, no clear damage (aside from a little bit of spillage on the heatsink thermal paste)
- It worked for 2 years just fine
- It's outside of warranty
- Reinstalled drivers TWICE
- Swapped GPU1 to slot 2 and GPU2 to slot 1 (and vice versa) with the same results

Dead card? I hope not 🙁

Any thoughts are appreciated

Cheers!

I cleaned as much off as I could, but it was difficult without getting the other components wet.

It's important to note that this did not cause a problem for 2 years (this was the stock job, and btw it was awful).

MSI Afterburner is showing me more, the temp and the frequency.. but I can't change the fan speed, it just pings back.

Progress is good, though!

I have 2x (accessible) PCIe x16 slots.

Test #1 - Each card (without the other) in the middle slot

Moving on to test 2...

Test #3 - Both cards in, without CF
Result - Can change both cards fan speed, both showing correctly.

This is getting weird.

Test #4 (final test, intended setup) - Both cards in, with CF turned on

P.S. Back before I started pulling cards, the second GPU (the one I was unable to change the speed on) was also not changing temp or fan speed when playing games (with CF turned ON)

The final result will be very interesting either way. Hold onto your hats ladies and gentlemen.

Test #4 (final test, intended setup) - Both cards in, with CF turned on
Result - I am unable to change the fan speed on GPU2, same issue as before. Any games are only utilizing GPU1 and not GPU2.

It's a CF issue folks... at least it's not the card.

Any thoughts? I am stumped.
