Anyone flash a 9800 pro 128MB w/hynix to XT bios?

Thats at stock XT speeds, I havnt overclocked it yet. But im going to give it a go in a bit, how far have you been able to overclock?

I didn't gain anything from the XT bios as far as overclocking goes. My max overclock is still 434/387. No biggie, though, because I still get that performance boost from the bios. I'll do my XT benchmark scores and my max overclock scores tonight or tomorrow.

Hmmm...very strange. I tried doing my max overclocks again and now they're 428/384. Also, my 3Dmark scores are lower today than they were yesterday, and Aquamark, WHOA! forget it! My framerates at times dip down to 11fps when they used to be over 30 - what the hell would cause that?

Thats strange, do you use adaware and spybot search and destroy to get rid of any spyware that might be hogging resources?
overheating perhaps? Gfx cooler could have come loose? Im just guessing wildly here.

On a completly different note, what tool do you use to overclock you card?
Are you using R360 or R350? I forget.

I use ATI Tools. I have the 360 core. My card was fine yesterday and this morning. I left a 3DMark03 run once while I left the house. When I came back, everything was fine, but my score was a bit lower than anticipated - about 300 points lower than yesterday. Aquamark ran fine this morning, but when I did it after I got home, it got all slow and choppy - sometimes going as low as 9 fps! I play UT2004 and everything seems fine. I don't know what's up. Yeah, I use Adaware 6 and Spybot S&D 1.3. Ran 'em both today and I still have the problem. Wierd.

Anyway, Ok, even Media Player wasn't playing videos. So I uninstalled the graphic drivers, used driver cleaner, and reinstalled. Everything seems fine now. First off, ok, Pukepile, if you had that kind of increase in 3DMark03, you should have had a bigger increase in Aquamark 3. Jammy and I have very similar scores. My scores at default XT speeds:

3DMark03: 6585
3DMark01: 19152
AquaMark3: 47015

Those are averages of 3 runs each. Pukepile, is your aquamark score a typo?

Hey again, glad you got everything sorted out. I have a chemistry exam today (which is my last exam, woohoo!)
So when I get back from that i will rerun my benchmarks a few times and give you the exact scores. (this is if I have time, there is an important meeting down the pub this afternoon which I cant miss :tongue: ).

Sorry Jammy, I messed up. I meant to ask Pukepile if his Aquamark score was a typo - comparing it to his 3Dmark03 score. I fixed it in my earlier post.

Nope not a typo ill run it again today when i get home as well as 3dmark 01.

Ya tested both 3dmark 01 and aqaud marl and no sizeable gain with the xt bois flash.AlsoKrazy did you reinstall ati tools i had to do that to get it to work right.

no, hmmm...maybe I should. wonder if that's the reason my max overclocks are lower. I dunno. The reason I asked about your Aquamark score is that your 3DMark03 score is similar to Jammy's and mine, but your Aquamark score is about 6-6500 lower. Wierd...

Your cpu makes a bigger differnce in aquamark than in 3dmark i think not really sure. i have a 2.8 b what do you guys have?

ahhh...crap. I never looked at your signature. We both have practically the same system. Only difference is Jammy has 512MB DDR and I have 1GB. We both have 2.6c's overclocked to 3.25Ghz.

Just out of interest can you overclock much moer than 3.25? I think my RAM is limiting me because 5Mhz more and I start getting errors.
Need to buy myself 1Gb of PC4400...looks like im gonna have to start selling body parts.

Ya know, here's the wacky deal: My 512MB set let me overclock to 265 before getting errors, but at 250, my PCmark2002 scores were around 9500. My 1GB set only lets me overclock to about 255 - like you - but I average around 10350 on PCMark2002 at 250. Go figure. I have better ram with less overclockablitly than I did before.

Lol, thats very strange. Maybe its because you have more RAM now? Im just grasping at straws. I want to get more RAM but I really cant afford it at the mo, did you notice a whole lot of difference when going from 512 to 1gig? You using windows XP?

yeah, XP Pro. I use programs like Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, Maya, and 3DS Max - so the extra 512MB definitely helps - especially with multiple programs open. They're all ram hogs. Didn't notice much of a difference in games, though.
