I'm trying to get Knoppix 3.2/Debian Linux to wake up and see the
embedded ethernet on the N2U400-a motherboard.

It keeps telling me that it sees no supported ethernet card.

Please tell me what trivial little mistake I'm making with this.

Thank you,thank you,thank you

It would help if you told us what the onboard ethernet chip is (hint:
lspci) If it's gigabit Ethernet, or lspci shows Unknown device with a
PCI ID of 4320, try 'modprobe sk98lin'.

My apologies, I thought the model number of the board would be
enough for ECS users to recognize this as the Nvidia chipset.

Since I've posted this I've done days more digging and it appears
that Linux folks all over are having difficulties with the Nvidia
chipset. It looks like people who know far more than I do about
this are struggling with it, so that means I'm unlikely to be
able to accomplish this.

At the moment I've accepted giving up on all the features of the
board but I still have to have networking. So I'm trying a NIC
card and disabling the onboard NIC. I think that might get me
what I need.

Maybe much later I can find someone who has solved the problems.

Thanks

The 5-17-2004 release of Knoppix3.4 seems to support the Nforce2 chipset
quite well, where 3.3 did not.
