Anyone try the f10 bios yet!

Hey all, i am in the process of building a new system with a ga-965p-ds3 board it is a rev 1. i have not had it fired up yet since i am still waiting for the memory. Im sure it is going to have the old f1 bios on it, can i grab the f10 bios or do i have to update in sequence up too the f10 bios. thanks in advance.

P.S has anyone had any issues with the f10 bios other than trying to update through the @bios utility
 
I updated last night after being on F7 for several months. I didnt plan to update actually, just got bored and saw a few improvements so went ahead!

I used QFlash and just did the same as always, reset the bios, did my settings, overclocked right away and bam...no worries whatsoever.

Ran prime95 on both cores to check stability and not a problem...OK i only ran it for half an hour but thats enough to prove its not flakey.

R6:Vegas crashed once buts that nothing unusual for that port program, it has more bugs than my veg patch.

I wrote in another thread around here the improvement, do a search if you dont already know what the revisions do.

I'd recommend it, no worries at all for me.
 
This is what the F10 adds if you couldnt find what I was on about:

BIOS Update:
1. . Enhance FSB frequency flexibility
2. Fix OC for Allendale CPUs
3. -Micron D9 1000 MHz 4-4-4-12 2.2V
-Micron D9 1100 MHz 5-5-5-15 2.3V
-Micron D9 1200 MHz 5-8-8-20 2.35V
4. Fix some issues occuring with cold start-ups
5. Fix Vdrop in C1E Function
6. New Feature: ´High Speed DRAM DLL Setting´
7. Intel® HPET Support
8. FSB 1333 MHz support (Auto as Rev.3.3)
9. JMicron ROM update
10. BIOS with fail-safe profile
11. Q-Flash BIOS can be updated through USB Sticks

thanks Jizumonkey great info i plan on updating before i install the OS hopefully i wont encounter any problems.

I noticed the new high speed dram setting in the bios but it does not apply to me. A couple of the previous options are now disabled at default too.

I used to get a few beeps on first bootup but they've now gone even though i have the exact same settings applied regarding overclock. Maybe this is the fix they mention in the release notes.

The BIOS posts more quickly also, my drives used to be manually disabled on channels i did not use, but it still used to spend a few seconds looking...now it flys by this part and this has decreased my total boot time by around 2 seconds.

OK, sad i know to time my boot up time but hey ho 😀
 
Well, almost 90% of any PC based community would, as a rule, never recommend using windows based software to update your BIOS. I personally have never had problems with it, but then on a similar note I also never had problems doing it the old way with a floppy....so why did I change?

This time I decided to use QFlash, for the very reason I used to give others - It's a safer option. Recently I have said that it makes no difference...to me it hasnt, but to others it has.

It isnt tough to figure QFlash out, give it a try. I still have F10 on and am happy with it but you should always follow rule number 1 - written before the 10 commandments and chiseled on gods underpants: If you have no reason to update your BIOS, dont!!!
 
Another nice feature i found in ver F10 is that you are now given 10 (if i remember correctly) bios custom save locations to save your settings in. This allows you to easily move back and forth to different settings. I think F11 saves and F12 restores. This a a very nice feature for OC'ers. Another difference i found was that there is a place to change the AHCI for the Intel controlled SATA II ports. The previous version F7 did not seem to have this.

UPDATE: Since i asked this question back in janurary i am happy to say that the F10 bios has worked flawlessly so far, system is very stable, obtaining a nice overclock and good temps. Thanks to all who replied.
 
with F9, I could only go up to 534FSB x 7 on my E6300.
with F10, I was able to get CPU-Z validation at 550FSB and stable at 457FSB

They release new BIOS to FIX or UPDATE or UPGRADE the previous BIOS.

So I'd say, always update to the latest BIOS =)

Also, I was able to run my memory at DDR2 1200Mhz with F9 with my Patriot sticks.
I'm going to go higher than 1200mhz this weekend with F10. It should be better than F9 =)

*I know, ppl swear by F7 or F8. But my F10 has been good to me =)*
