Hiya, just built a rig consisting of 9800x3d on asus x870-f, 2x16 gb ddr5 ram 4800mhz OC to 6000mhz via expo1 & 4070ti super gfx.

Cpu is oc'd & undervolted via pbo to advanced, mobo limit, scaler auto, boost clock override 100 & thermal throttle 80c with curve optimizer at -15,

Ok so the question is for power plan in windows 11, is it better to have
high performance or balanced & more specifically under processor power management, what is the ideal setting for minimum processor state? I hear ppl say 0%, 5% & 100% so I'm really not sure what info' is correct for the minimum state.

Thank you.

What games do you play? What apps do you run?

What is "better to have" is a stable system that performs well with "well " being defined as you can work and game as required and expected.

There may be some specific set of configuration values that achieve that objective. Likely to vary from system to system depending on the games and applications being run.

The desired ideal settings could change with what the system is doing at any given time.

"Correct" is relative. One size does not fit all. Trade-offs likely. Pro's & cons. Risks & rewards.

Find what works on your build and simply leave the settings alone thereafter. Fix only if broken.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

Ok, well haven't run any games on it yet as just finished installing os, apps, data & running stress tests on cinebench & aida64 extreme. Did test div 1 for like 5 mins & it seemed stable all maxed at over 300fps but dropped to a normal limit.

First games would be division 1, sea of thieves & wwe2k24 but later stalker 2, cyberpunk 2077.

What is the difference between a minimum of 0% & 100% for minimum processor state, the cpu not throttling based on load but constantly running at max potential clock speed or did I get that wrong?

Very current article. There are other similar links and tutorials to be found.

From the link:

"What Is the Recommended Minimum Processor State?

The default minimum processor state value in Windows 10/11 is 5%, and also the most recommended minimum processor state by many experts. The primary reason to set your Minimum Processor State option to 5% is if you are running minimal CPU programs, they will work well in low CPU states. It enables the system to configure, monitor and conserve battery power. On the other hand, you can set the maximum processor state as 100% when using heavy programs like gaming"

According my "Control Planel" configuration the current system minimum is 5% and the current system maximum is 100%. I do not tinker with the % values.

I would be hard pressed to determine what might be best for your system and/or otherwise how any given %'s or changes would make a performance difference on your build. There are always trade-offs.

And (full disclosure) I tend to be overall skeptical about stess tests, bench marks, etc..

Will thus defer to the OC and gaming community accordingly.

Aight set min to 5% & max 100%, cheers for input.
