TLDR: I need advice on how to secure 3.5" drives in a King 95 to mitigate vibration

____________
I always wanted a cube case, and needed 3x 3.5", 2x 2.5" bays. King 95 was the obvious choice. Reviews focus on the aesthetic and cooling, gloss over the other aspects. I'm a little disappointed with the case.

-The sheet metal inside is very thin

-Three of the advertised 5x 3.5" storage is instead of the bottom fans and doesn't even have a shroud to cover them. I rather not sacrifice are flow and ruin the aesthetics by mounting HDD on the case floor.

- The HDD sleds hold the drives on thier sides (not ideal), are made of flimsy plastic, and don't a way to be screwed to the case. The rails arent snug... The drives can wiggle about 5mm.

Is there a way to cut down on the wobbliness or should I just return the case if I'm using mechanical HDD ?

Is it possible to take 2 or 3 photos showing the interior?

Perhaps the sleds could be replaced with some equivalent metal sleds.

Or the plastic reinforced.

Is it viable to replace the HDD with a SSD?

Doing so may solve the problem(s) and allow you to continue using the King95 - just a thought.....

Post the photos - there may be other ideas and suggestions.

In hind site I should have asked how to secure the HDD on any sled/caddie style case that doesn't get screwed down.

At 5m 10sec of this video, you can see and hear exactly what I'm talking about. HDD is secure to the sled, sled is secure to nothing, you can hear it rattling around as it goes in... No springs, no clips, no screws.

I have an 8tb, 6tb, and a 4tb HDD drives. They cost $270 total (I already own them so they cost nothing)... If I wanted that much storage as SSD it would be over $1000. That's a lot to spend to be able to use a $90 case =P

Usually, finding small rubber shims and stuffing them in at the point of vibration can help minimize noise. There's no universal quality to sleds/caddies, it really depends on how good the tolerances of the manufacturer are. For example, on my 011 Dynamic XL, there are four hotswap drive bays and they're snug without any securing.

The plastic sled clips are simply not doing enough to hold the sled securely in place.

I could not get quite enough of a good look at the "point" where the clips snap in.

However all it may take is a bit of tape, rubber, to pad that area and make the clip hold a bit tighter.

You're right, sticking a shimming between the innerward facing side of the drives is the best option. There isn't any over hanging plastic or else I'd just add a screw hole through the cage and sled.

The regular and XL versions of the 011 Dynamic Evo look like slighty wide rectangular towers... wasn't worth the extra cost . The Lancool 2 Mesh wouldve been my 2nd choice. The king 95 looks more square/cube. But despite the raving reviews is a very low quality case for the price.

You couldn't see it because there is no "snap-in point". My ancient cases had tabs running down the length sled that clicked into place and springy humps on the far end of the drive cage that push on the front of the drive.
The king 95 sled is a very tight fit and has tiny bump on the outer edge, circled in red, prevent the drive from sliding in/out (it actually takes a lot of force to get the drive out). But nothing stops it from sliding left/right.
