I thinking to upgrade my cpu and motherboard because my current motherboard most probably is busted. I want an affordable amd build (only cpu and mobo) to last me for the next 3-4years.. I game at 1366x768 resolution but I wont switch to a 1080p that is for sure.. anything coming up Q2 or Q3? AMD processor and motherboard? (or maybe intel).. want suggestions please?

Currently am on an FX 4100 with an MSI 760GM P21 (FX)

Skylake's coming up this year in Q2-Q3 and AMD rumored to release their Zen processors in 2016-17, judging by Intel's performance track record these past few years i don't think the performance jump from Haswell to Skylake would be much.

An FX-6300 paired with a GA-78LMT-USB3 (Rev.6) will give you a pretty smooth experience but may lag behind in games that require strong single-core performance such as Starcraft 2.

If this is the case then I'd go with an i3-4150 (the I5-4460 if you can afford it) and the H97 Anniversary.

Your HD-7850 Should be completely fine for that resolution, and maybe a bit more than you actually need

The 8350 will be fine on the GA-78LMT-USB3 (Make sure it's Revision 6), but you probably won't get any overclocking headroom on the board.

A motherboard like the 990FX-UD3 (And again, make sure it's the latest revision, as the older revisions tend to have overheating issues) or the MSI Gaming 970 will give a ton of overclocking headroom on the 8350.

There are no cheaper motherboards of good quality I know of, most of them have bad overheating problems/ instability issues.

To repeat again though, the 78lmt-USB3 will support the 8350, but will likely not give you any OC headroom due to it's limited VRM's

EDIT: Browsed the reviews on Amazon and found a few people who overclocked to 4.5+ on this board. Your max overclock on this board may vary though, due to the many variables that come into account like chip lottery, cooling and ambient temperature.

The GA-78LMT-USB3 Rev.3 has 4 USB2.0 headers and has support for up to USB3.0 headers, which is the connectors for the front. And while 1600Mhz ram is not listed as supported by the manufacturer, but some people are reporting that 1600 and 1866 RAM can be brought up to their rated speeds after a bit of tweaking. (The performance difference between 1333 and 1600MHz RAM in real life is neglible, though)

The 970A-D3SP is also a pretty good choice, but some people on Newegg are reporting instability issues so you may want to take that into consideration.

AM3+ is ancient wont recommend for future build. considering ur GPU & monitor resolution these are the cheapest combos that will serve you preety decent.
AMD build: Athlon X4 760K + MSI A78M-E35 ~ $130
intel build: Pentium G3258 + ASRock H97M Anniversary ~ $135
