I am making this for Christmas. It is my first time making my own computer. Is there anything I should change?

I would build using a skylake 6700K , Z170 mb and DDR4 .
Your build is already last generation and no core parts could be used in future upgrades .

If you need to fit that into ma budget then cut back on the cpu cooler . Its not needed on a chip thats only rated for 77 watts
