Anything silent and cheaper than a SSD?

Hello guys,

for some strange reasons my WD Blue 1 TB bothers me a lot. The rest of my system is completely quiet, you can't hear it from 0,5m away. Absolutely no noise. But with my HDD turned on i hear a flat, not loud but in my whole room recognizable noise. It's strange, it's really not loud but you can clearly hear it from 4m away.

I don't think it's a error on the HDD, I guess HDDs are just a bit "loud". So my question:

Is there anything to store data (with okay datarates, 100 Mbit/s or so would be good) which is cheaper than SSDs and very quiet?

I already ordered a WD Red and I'll see if it's quieter, but if it isn't, can sb recommend me sth?

Do you think it's possible to get some kind of flash storage like some kind of SD card with a lot of storage and ok datarates?

Thanks in advance.

Thx for your answer. So no way out other than a expensive HDD I guess. I'd have one other very stupid but maybe good idea. I could mount my HDD(s) in another room and access them in my network. My PC is cabled with a lan cable directly to my router, would you think I could get datarates of about 50-100 mbit? I dont know if this is even a good idea with latency etc but maybe worth a try xD But maybe its just my hdd, i'll wait for my WD red and hope. But really, what about my crazy network HDD idea?

Hi, got my WD Red 1 hour ago and it is really "silent" I'd say. I can't hear it from 30cm away. I only need it to store files and so on because my OS and games are on my Samsung 960 evo 250 GB. I'm very happy with the WD red and my system is now absolutely silent. :)
