Same SSD here too and I love it . I would keep the Rosewill though its gold cert and modular. both are great features if you have the money.

Any reason on the expensive CPU cooler?

That mobo looks pretty good, any reason you chose it over my old one?

Oh yeah and about that case... I forgot to mention the 200R is in my room right now. Oops.

120gb is like $60 I think and in my opinion I would choose Asus>MSI>Gigabyte>ASRock in motherboards of course you can always get the Asus Z97-A for a good price of $125 or $129

I only chose the XFX because they can be just as great although it's not modular

I think I am going to go with the Rosewill because it is modular and it will probably help with cable management and since it's my first build. Thanks anyway for the recommendation.

Is the Z97-A any better, I see a boatload of bad and good reviews on Newegg on it. The mobo you linked me is like all 5 stars besides some DOAs.

EDIT: Is there any speed difference between the pro and the crucial, I just want a fast bootup.

Only by around 30mb/s I think you won't notice the difference and ya Gigabyte motherboards are good but they have DOA issues and Asus are just top tier for overclocking. Obviously z97-a isn't their best but it's still decent

Edit: Nvm seems that I remembered the wrong thing. Samsung is faster :) but I would choose the mx100 still cuz it only takes like 15 seconds to boot up and evo might be 10 or something

Edit 2: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/storage/2014/06/02/crucial-mx100-512gb-review/6 actually I found a benchmark and it says that the boot times are almost neck to neck

I think I am going to go with the Gigabyte board, looks very nice. I have a retard question, I can buy two of those memory kits (4 sticks in total?) and have enough lanes right?

You still haven't told me why you chose that CPU cooler.

that gigabyte server rated z97 is a $180 mobo for $99 right now so that is just a steal. the crucial mx100 beats the 840 evo in real world reviews and is cheaper. if gold certification and modular is important, then that is ok, but i dont see any point in anything over 550w unless your going to jump to 750w+ since 650w is not going to allow you sli/cfx anyways and i would rather have seasonic gold rated unit any day over any other power supply from any company.

otherwise i like skylarz build too since it saves you money on the fancy gold certification and somewhat unnecessary modular cables and nets you a higher end air cooler while still keeping a high quality psu. i personally would delid and be happy with a hyper 212 evo temps, but i understand why many do not want to delid their brand new ivy/haswell processor.

Yup definitely going with that ssd and mobo, both very nice.

650w because I feel it is the sweet spot for 4690k + 970 and because I honestly do not know how many watts this system will use and nobody has told me it is not enough...

I'm probably not going to sli.

I am not sure exactly why you guys keep telling me to use seasonic, other people are telling me as well. I have been told that rosewill is just a seasonic psu with rosewill slapped on it.

Sorry I went to sleep and yes you can buy two more 😛 also I chose that CPU cooler because it's silent and extremely good for overclocking. You can always go for the CM 212 EVO in which I have. The reason why people are recommending yo the Seasonic one is because it's cheaper and your build saves a lot of power so unless you SLI (which you said you won't) u dont need 650W

i guess its entirely possible that the rosewill unit is a rebranded seasonic. all xfx units are. check johnnyguru for power supply reviews and information.

you will be fine with a 550w for an overclocked i5/970... its not about watts, its about amperage on the 12v rail. the 4690k will pull about 14amps on its worst day with a large 4.8ghz overclock. the 970(depending on the model) will pull about 27amps with an unlocked voltage controller, a custom bios unlocking higher voltage and power target, and about a 1700mhz core clock... under water. so that adds up to 41amps in an extreme case.

the 550w gold seasonoic i linked has 45amps on its 12v, so "if" you were going to shoot for the moon with a custom water loop to get the i5 to 4.8ghz and you had the 970 under water as well with a custom overclock, you might want to think about getting a higher wattage unit since you wouldn't have much headroom leftover.

Wow good price on the samsung evo :O and I think it should it's a pretty big mid atx case 😛 you might as well go with the 750W capstone one you had earlier (or was it 650w) cuz they cost the same
