What stratagies do you guys use for Age of kings? I used to play Age of Empires a long time ago, but only against the computer. Now I played Age of Kings against other people, it was a bit harder.

I decided to put a foothold on the fishing places by making lots of galleons, about 30, and destroying the enemy ships, boats and docks. But, my ground forces were lacking.

What kinda stratagies do you guys use?

Make sure you make enough workers right away to max out production. Also getting gunpowder weapons first is key. If you're playing a map with lots of forests, then build managols updated to knock down forests and try to get behind an enemy. Archers are deadly in huge numbers, especially longbow men if you are britons. Whatever you do don't forget to build trebuchets in time. I guess I could go on later...

Doesn't anybody sans me and dhlucke play AOK?

I had a look around on the net for tips and stuff, and found what I was doing is called grushing (Galeon Rushing). I did come second in that game despite of my low troop count. Actually I didn't have a lot of troops in any one time, but lots of troops over time. most of them got killed. I like the Monks. Their pretty cool. Is there anyway of garrisoning them in a building or something.

I had to back off of that game for a bit. It got too addicting.

One of my favorite tactics was to simply "Zerg" opponents early in the game with swordsman. Sometimes you could catch someone off guard if your lucky to find them fast enough. Always aim for the workers, your forces will get whooped but they lose critical resource development. I also would make a dummy outpost to try and fake out some players or to slow them down.

I haven't played the game in months, I tried playing online a while back after a long layoff and got annihilated. Now I'm scared to head back! Those guys got too good.

Blah, Blah Blahh, Blahh, blahh blah blahh, blah blah.

Also depends what map you play. For example in Rivers just be the Teutons or the Brits, find the crossings, build a wall that looks like a C so that they can't get to your gate before your towers/castle garrisoned with archers up the but kills everything. Then build trebuchets. If you're playing humans they will surely try transports so you'll have to start building other towers and especially bombard towars to knock out their sea transports.

Personally if I play against humans on LAN, I'll do two people per team so that one is doing resources and one the army. Get's crazy though....

If there is one map I really just can't master, that's islands. I get so destroyed it's not even funny. I thought it would be easier with the Korean navy, but I get worked...

Learn the keyboard commands. Build at least 5 to 8 of every military building you use. Keep your buildings full of men waiting to be built. This way when someone dies a new one is started immediately. Captured relics produce gold.
