make sure your motherboard is on the latest BIOS version, then verify that your OS isn't pending any updates. Following that remove all GPU drivers using DDU, then manually reinstall the latest GPU driver for your GPU off of Nvidia's support site, in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

850w evga gold psu
EVGA is the brand of the PSU while 850W is the advertised wattage for the unit. Likewise, Gold is the advertised 80+ rating for the unit. Please mention the model of the PSU. How old is this unit?

Interesting that you would pair a CPU that old with the 4090.

As for it being a 4070 Ti... hope you didn't get scammed... i.e. if the card looks the same as the 4090 someone could have bought both... swapped them... and returned one.

Im planning on upgrading my processor and motherboard soon

I bought this new so I don't think it would be swapped

Just cleaned nvidia drivers and redownloaded from their website and gpu-z (and everything else) once again says it's a 4070ti

Is it possible that my cpu is bottlenecking the card into believing its a 4070ti :ROFLMAO:? No right?

I played the witcher 3 without rtx and couldn't reach 120 fps (assumed it was because my processor once again)

also now looking a the box it came in it's damaged and doesn't look knew.

Perhaps I was bamboozled after all

Bought it from amazon, I don't think aorus was the direct seller so perhaps that's why

Unfortunately that's what I was afraid of. Someone buys both from Amazon... puts the 4070 in the 4090 box... returns it for a refund... while keeping the 4090 for themselves at the 4070 price.

That would be my guess. Good for you Amazon is good with returns even if it's an open door for stuff like this to happen. More likely if you bought from a 3rd party seller but I have heard of returned items being sold as new and that could be the case here?
