Apple should have told the Brits to go screw themselves. Telling a company to apologize is absurd and disgusting, and should never be dictated by a government.

We have states with bigger economies than that puny island, and Apple should have walked away and let their people think about how stupid a government is for making one company apologize publicly.

A fine, yes. Apology? No industry should have to suffer under a government so heavy-handed. What a complete overreach of government. And I thought U.S. government had gotten out of control. We're amateurs compared to these clowns.

My uncle just came over for a visit and then started bashing my windows system...,

I proceeded to reply him, "You wasted your time coming all the way here for THAT??!!"

he proceeded to leave the room..

[citation][nom]husker[/nom]I don't think a United Kingdom judge will like being played by a bunch of Apple corporate lawyers. I'm going to get some popcorn and watch this with great interest.[/citation]

You need to get out more often!!! hehe

[citation][nom]STFUandGTFO[/nom]i didn't look at who wrote this article but i'm pretty sure i know who it is and HE NEEDS TO STOP BECAUSE NOBODY CARES[/citation]

You mean Jane McEntegart from her CNET story??

Yes, we all know that Zak is a douchebag assclown for apple, but for once this apple item is actually newsworthy, and HE didn't write it.

[citation][nom]JacekRing[/nom]Wonder if the court ordered a specific color the font had to be in....if not, why didn't they just post it in white font? making it invisible unless you highlight the text.[/citation]

I could check again for clarification, but I'm very sure that a font color wasn't specifically ordered, but hiding it like that may have gotten Apple into deeper trouble because that'd be hiding it to an extreme. If it's not even visible without highlighting it, then it's unlikely that most people would be capable of seeing it without knowing what to look for and where to look for it. What Apple did may or may not be within the court order (or at least the intentions of it), but doing what you suggested would have almost definitely been outside of what the court order allows.

The Judge should make them have a video recording of Tim Cook wearing a Steve Jobs figure shirt and read off the apology statement. on their homepage and on commercials.

It's not the government that is asking Apple to apologize. It's the court.

And you're right, it's absurd and disgusting that they asked Apple for an apology. They should have asked for 1+ billion dollars in damages.

Apple is quickly losing its good image, doing stuff like this is only accelerating their descent.
Chances are they could have easily spun this whole thing so that Apple appears to be genuinely sorry for its actions and therefore gains good reputation. Apple have definitely gone the wrong direction in trying to deal with this.
