Of course Apple has a large (but eroding) customer base and will nut plummet into the ground anytime soon. But in the professional market, people are less driven by the emotion and will buy a product for other reasons than "it looks cooler" or "I hate those coloured tiles". Many IT specialists not convinced by iOS devices had to buy them to fulfill some specific mission profiles because there was a pressure from management to find such solution. Two years ago, you wouldn't find any suitable alternative to the iPad, so they bought those in a desperate move. Now, with the tablet hardware becoming better every day and Windows 8 Pro working fast on tablets, it becomes possible to buy Win8 devices that are correctly integrated into Active Directory, can be secured and run all the company's tailor made applications while still getting the same kind of user acceptance the iPad has. Is Windows 8 perfect ??? No, far from it, just like many other Windows before, but it works quite fine and I have no doubts that Microsoft will eventually become succesful with their new platform.
