Apple Headphones Compatibility with PC

I am trying to use my Apple headphones for both voice and audio while playing games because I'm cheap and don't want to spend money on a nice headset. Anyways, when I plug the phones into the audio port I can hear the game, but when I switch it to the voice port my voice comes through but I can't hear the game. I'm not sure if it's possible to get both functions working simultaneously but it should be able to since both can work together when making phone calls for example. Any help on the subject is appreciated as I am no expert, though I'm sure some of you on here are. Thanks.

You need a 4 pole to dual 3 pole adapter cable for the headphones to work with a dual jack computer.

Ok I'm not sure what that is. Can you send me a link to one so I can buy it. Also once I get the adapter is there anything I need to fiddle around in the settings or will I be good to go?
