[citation][nom]MaXimus421[/nom]I honestly find it very hard to believe Apple is the most profitable company in the U.S.It seriously does not make one lick of sense to me, regardless of how high their prices are or how many iSheep have an iPhone. I still do not fully believe this.Anyone else agree here?[/citation]

LOL this is not new news, this is OLD news. SEC filings are for everyone to see the past 12 quarters. Only Exxon comes close to Apple. Companies like Walmart have massive revenue (over $400 billion) but their margins are thin, thus profits are no where near Apple or Exxon.

This is an example of why I love Amazon. They have high income, but razor thin margins. The gap in profit between a company like Amazon and a company like Apple is passed on to us, the consumers. I always feel like I'm getting a good deal at Amazon, because 99% of the time, I am.

[citation][nom]killerclick[/nom]And that's why Microsoft is trying to copy Apple's business model. Overpriced, locked-down hardware, fancy stores, dictatorial approach to product design and of course astonishing arrogance.Too bad for Microsoft they had only flops since Oct 26th.[/citation]

Don't really agree. Locked down hardware? NO. There are many manufacturers making Microsoft phones, unlike apple. Dictatorial approach to design? NO. All Windows phones out right now all look quite different.

Why make stuff up?

[citation][nom]weaselman[/nom]I have seen plenty of people wave there I-phone devices at me, there I-Pad and I-Pods, thinking it is some sort of Status symbol or something. And you know what when they break, Who fixes it ?How and where do I get it fixed ? is often what I am asked, I smile at them. At that point the penny drops when I tell them. Fixed hardware and all. Be prepared to pay Apple a lot of money to fix it. Since it is closed hardware for there exact own marketing reasons. So not surprising you made 13.1 billion is it.Like I said what do you ever get in return for buying an Apple product ?[/citation]

Whatchu talkin' about? Replacement parts are super easy to come by on ebay/internet. The only thing with the "closed hardware" is the pentalobe screws which requires a $2 screwdriver from ebay. And unlike many other products, because of their popularity, iFixit has very detailed guides on how to replace parts.

Apple is expensive, but they don't sell junk, they don't worry about having something at every price point. The make stuff people actually want. The only thing that bothers me is that a corporation exists to provide value to it's share holders, and to pass on the profits to the share holders. Not to horde cash to create the largest hedge fund in the world. Before Republicans gutted the tax code, half of Apple's hedge fund would have instead reduced the deficit, instead of adding to it by driving prices up that reduce American deficit, instead it contributes to the rise of another asset bubble, whom the private investor will again get screwed when the inevitable burst manifests itself. This isn't a Apple problem, it's a problem that all of the industrialized nations really need to solve, but are too busy being bought. Gotta love the American worker though, too damned stupid to realize that tax avoidance by companies isn't red white and blue, it f's the people who DO.

[citation][nom]leeashton[/nom]net income mean nothing, it does not mean profitable, how much did toms get paid to publish this rubish, $1000?[/citation]

http://www.investopedia.com/terms/n/netincome.asp#axzz2KauiOjhK

Definition of 'Net Income - NI'
1. A company's total earnings (or profit). Net income is calculated by taking revenues and adjusting for the cost of doing business, depreciation, interest, taxes and other expenses. This number is found on a company's income statement and is an important measure of how profitable the company is over a period of time. The measure is also used to calculate earnings per share.

Often referred to as "the bottom line" since net income is listed at the bottom of the income statement. In the U.K., net income is known as "profit attributable to shareholders".

2. An individual’s income after deductions, credits and taxes are factored into gross income. Deductions and credits are subtracted from gross income to arrive at taxable income, which is used to calculate income tax. Net income is income tax subtracted from taxable income.

Investopedia explains 'Net Income - NI'
1. Net income is calculated by starting with a company's total revenue. From this, the cost of sales, along with any other expenses that the company incurred during the period, is removed to reach earnings before tax. Tax is deducted from this amount to reach the net income number. Net income, like other accounting measures, is susceptible to manipulation through such things as aggressive revenue recognition or by hiding expenses. When basing an investment decision on net income numbers, it is important to review the quality of the numbers that were used to arrive at this value.

2. For example, suppose that your gross income is $50,000 and you have $20,000 in deductions and credits. This leaves you with a taxable income of $30,000. Then, suppose that another $5,000 of income tax is subtracted; the remaining $25,000 will be your net income.

Silly people, stick to bashing Apple for small screens, since you don't understand the business side of tech

[citation][nom]tobalaz[/nom]When you have iSheep willing to buy anything you release...When said iSheep believe bug are "features" or because "you're holding it wrong" or "that device was dated anyways, you should have bought a new one" and really buy into the BS.When everyone over 40 that is clinging on to trying to be "cool" and "with the times" and follow blind into the snappy commercials of youth dancing with your overpriced product while they're thinking "that could SO BE ME!!!"When your innovation is recycling the same design with minor improvements and patenting and trademarking things like glass display windows in the front of your store or square or rectangular objects with rounded corners... You can keep shoveling overpriced sh1t to the hipsters and be profitable.[/citation]
Good god boy, this drivel has been typed over and over. And you actually wasted time doing it yet again.

Usual head up there response. I am no apple fan but my sister bought a used iPhone that turned out to be flakey. She went to the Apple store to have them check it out. They took it out back and came back out with a new iPhone of the same model. Said her's showed some water intrusion damage but not enough to void the warranty. She walked out with a new iPhone. The other was cosmetically good and will probably get recycled. Many stories like this. This is what you get from apple. Try that with Samsung.

LMAO reading the flaming hate of Apple - God forbid a company makes profit! I mean the nerve of them to do well when the planet's economic situation is dire...

P.S. Google and MS are also doing well ;-) Lets hate on them as well... Oh, no? Wait a double standard??

It's fascinating that people on here speak of the evils of a closed system (Apple/MS) yet go out of their way to make fun of anyone (isheep) who doesn't agree with their choice... kinda hypocritical when one keeps saying "Open System, freedom of choice" when you mock them for choosing differently from me)...

As an Apple person coming to the Android side - Loving my Nexus 7 (along with my MBA) So much anger, sigh...
