Apple TV is effectively Apple's game console. However, while the PlayStation and Xbox are advertised as primarily game consoles with entertainment options as a secondary feature, Apple advertises Apple TV as primarily an entertainment hub with gaming as a secondary feature (https://www.apple.com/apple-tv-4k/ it's in the bottom 1/3rd of the page)
For the desktop you mean?
Because in general I think apple arcade is more of a console substitute than apple tv but it's mostly for iphone ipad.

And you can run it on Apple TV, with a controller: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210414

Apple doesn't need to make a dedicated gaming console because Apple TV fills that role already (albeit, it's not the primary function of the product).

What we really need is a Mini that really cooks. The M1Max could do that and you would have a seriously competitive computer. But of course Apple will screw it up and compromise things to cram it into a ridiculously small size. We've been hoping for a Mini Mac Pro for a very long time. But they always disappoint the value thinking consumer because their whole business model is based on ripping off people with impulsive decisions based on style and popularity instead of function. But hey, they've got Linux running on the M1 so who knows? Maybe its only a matter of time before people are running a Windowtosh on a Mac instead of Hackintosh on a PC. Who would have dreamt this would happen even 3 years ago?
