Well considering I was addressing the quote "I can’t think of a single thing a netbook does well," and not "iPad vs. netbooks," my post is 100% correct. Would you disagree with me that a decent netbook does all of the listed things well, or are you going to disregard part of my post yet again and skew the argument?

His point was a netbook does all that you listed WITHOUT the need to spend more money on things such as extra dongles, etc. And a netbook is A HELL OF A LOT cheaper than a Ipad with A LOT more space on a netbook. And netbooks run a Dual Core processor in most cases whereas a Ipad runs a single core phone processor.

[citation][nom]Nik_I[/nom]i found it hard enough typing notes, so i just went back to the old-fashioned method: pencil and paper.[/citation]

Well, alot of people are like me, and we type faster than we write. Alot faster. Not to mention the advantage of perfect legibility, for the penmanship-challenged, like myself 😉

[citation][nom]Macintosh[/nom]Revenues up 49 percent and profits up 90 percent[/citation]
From a consumer standpoint, that's a downright scary thing to hear. :O
Stop raping customers please.

However, I should have invested in Apple.

[citation][nom]bonezy[/nom]Hmm... I don't know about you Mr. Cook, but I'd rather not be sitting in class and take notes on a touch screen, thanks.[/citation]
There's going to be an attachable keyboard... so now what've ya got?

Actually, you're right about that, sorry. The context of the posts surrounding yours made me forget exactly what it was that was said. Again, I apologize.

"There's going to be an attachable keyboard... so now what've ya got? "

Going to be sure ok yippy. Also thats an extra out of your wallet. Also it is detached is it not you have to slide the iFad into it. Netbooks may not be the fastest on the planet but they sure as hell beat the crap out of a iPad for performance. Oh & yes netbooks do flash is flash the greatest no but when it is on over 90% of the websites in the world,it sure is a good feature to have when you want to view something flash based. So umm there are several thing the iFad can not do at all that a netbook can do.

Typical Apple talking out of their asses again. It has to make you wonder when a company down plays other products almost every second day when ever one of their nut cases makes a speech they must be worried pretty bad. Netbooks are here to stay Apple better learn to except that & move on already. Do I like netbooks not really do I own one yes I use it at work for doing scans & onsite calls,it gets the job done. Would I be able to use a iFad in the same way as I do my netbook that would be a pretty big no. Someone said why would you need USB devices let me think, external hard drives USB to Sata/IDE dongles. I have up to 3 drives scanning at once on my unit I am willing to bet the iFad could not handle one device for scanning as it does not have enough CPU resourses to handle something like that. So please go ahead buy your toy read website with it play App stoe movies from hell even read a book, the rest of us will use something we actually deem fit in the real world. Thanks

Most netbooks do not have dual core processors, and the ones that do are much higher end and are arguably not netbooks due to size. Asus makes some nice netbooks, most of them in the $500 price range, almost all with the Intel N280 - a single core proc with hyperthreading.

If the OS is optimized to a processor, and this one is, you're going to get a hell of a lot better performance out of it. Chugging along on a desktop OS with a 5400 or 4500 RPM SATA drive isn't going to be as responsive as an iPad (let alone HDD being power hungry).

Can you find a netbook with a SSD for cheap? If so, just how much space do you think it would have in a decent price range? Asus makes one, it's $749 with 32 GB of space...and has a touch screen with no keyboard. Looks about on par with an iPad, huh? How about with an aircard built in? Still sound cheap? How about with a $30 unlimited data plan? Not happening. 12 hour battery life playing video nonstop? No.

I think what you and others are trying to argue is tablet vs. computer, but you're mixing in the Apple hatred. These PC manufacturers all see the value of tablets now that the stylus has been removed from the mix and multiple OS's actually support it well.

You can use any bluetooth keyboard with an iPad, not attached. Netbooks do not actually beat down the iPad in performance, just specs. There is quite a difference but many people don't seem to understand such a simple point.

Why in the hell would you need an external hard drive for a media consumption device? Why do you use a netbook to scan drives? And really, why would you think anyone expected the iPad to be a PC technician's tool? Your netbook will not fit on my music stand, it won't last 12 hours watching movies on flights to Europe, it won't boot up and be running in 5 seconds, it's not going to have 3G wireless built in, and it's not going to work out as an e-reader. The iPad has many purposes, if they aren't for you then that's completely understandable. But why must you turn into a raging jerk about other people who find value in it? Don't worry, I'm sure someone will still make netbooks for people to scan hard drives.

Godfail,

Glad you asked since I just happened to run into one today.

Face it, you've got your lips so attached to Steve's butt that you are too blind to see the reality. Netbooks are superior in pretty much every way to ipads and for a much lower price.

[citation][nom]sceen311[/nom]There's going to be an attachable keyboard... so now what've ya got?[/citation]

I lot more money in my pocket. You really can't compare a netbook to the iPad. It's hilarious. Ohh I'm sure you can buy all kinds of attachments for the iPad but what is that total dollar amount going to come to? I'm guessing a lot. Apple people must be rich or stupid or a combination of both. I just don't get it.

"With the iPad in terms of netbooks — to me it’s a no brainer. It’s sort of 100 to 0. I can’t think of a single thing a netbook does well."
I can think of only one thing a netbook can't do well, and that is being overpriced.

This makes me wonder. If you've got to tote around a whole bunch of add-ons for the ipad to make it useful, it seems you lose a lot of the portability. How's the battery life going to handle having a camera, keyboard, and variety of dongles hooked up to it. All of these are already included in a netbook. All of this on top of the cost. I'm betting you are looking at closer to a thousands bucks when all is said and done with the ipad.

I can think of one thing a netbook does better than apple, Cost. I don't need to sell my kidney just to type a word document on the go. The price I would pay for mac book tho Id far rather spend on a laptop that could play games. Heck I would hope for an i3/5 processor over core2 as well.

[citation][nom]matt87_50[/nom]its just not believable.[/citation]

No marketing is believable.

Why should anyone trust company A's marketing any more than company B's?

It's the same with religions.

Belief is a state of mind: You state yours.. He states his...

The thing is, if Apple made a Netbook, it'd sell just as well. All their brainwashed (semi-retarded at that) customers will buy anything they release, no matter the quality. Hell, the iPad has absolutely no features that most people would deem "mandatory" and look how quickly they're selling.

That is the power of having unconditional support from the media. As long as that is the case, Apple stock will most likely continue to rise, and Apple's products will remain sub-par. As Freud's double nephew Louis Bernays observed and preached in his best known book, propaganda is marketing's best friend. The us media poster-boy and con-artist Steve Job surely knows this.

"If we understand the mechanism and motives of the group mind, is it not possible to control and regiment the masses according to our will without their knowing about it? The recent practice of propaganda has proved that it is possible..."

Edward Bernays Propaganda, 2005 ed., p71

I'll just buy an Eee PC + ipod touch to use as a device that I can slip in my pockey while listening to music at the gym or while rollerblading

all that... for the same f00king price! What a deal Bob Barker!

[citation][nom]deck[/nom]Godfail, you certainly do fail. You seem to be totally out of iTouch with reality.[/citation]

fixed

Okay.. this all out bashing needs to stop. Both sides are being a little rediculous here, although the "PC" side is doin the Apple bashing, while the Apple side is just trying to defend a product THEY like. Not you. Cry yourself to sleep if you want, but your not going to make them change their mind.

You guys can't just blanket everything under the statement "product A does more than product B, and its cheaper to boot!"

I can get a car for cheaper than alot of motorcycles..
And I have AM/FM radio in a car.
I can talk with friends and family in the car.
I could sleep in the car.
In an accident i'm safer in the car.
I can go on and on.
Hell.. probably the ONLY tangible benefit a motorcycle has over a car is gas mileage.

But I still own, use, and enjoy having my motorcycle. Flaws/shortcomings and all.

An iPad is NOT a Desktop. It's not a netbook. It's something different with the ABILITY to do many of the same things, albeit at differing performance levels. Period. Somebody is going to have uses for an iPad that a netbook won't meet, and it doesn't matter why. The ONLY thing that should matter is that they have something THEY enjoy.

And finally while you technically have the right to tell me what you think about anything you feel like, including something I may or may not buy that you feel is worthless, subpar, or overpriced.. It doesn't stop you from coming off like a completely self-righteous used bag of douche. So please just stop already.

You PC guys love to throw out the statement that Apple users are pompous, snobby, and arrogant.. All I have to say to that is.. Mr. Pot, my name is Mr. Kettle.
