[citation][nom]oblivionlord[/nom]jjecastejThis is a false statement...."Innovation is not to invent something from zero as no single human could claim any invention under this premise."Karl Benz did invent the first self-propelled Automobile in 1886 called "Benz Patent-Motorwagen". This IS considered an invention because it was the first 'self-propelled' automobile. The concept of the wheels and engine as well as other hardware used in the making of this automobile are considered innovations since they were based off preexisting inventions yet still his own design.[/citation]

My statement is in negative logic and only needs the premise "a single human to invent something from zero" to be true.

Start from zero will literally mean to invent even the language he spoke, all the engineering, mathematics, physics, all the science, art and building technologies, not to enter even on natural evolution and existence. And so could Karl Benz or any human claim that? No, he is just entitled for the Motorwagen invention and nothing else.

Karl Benz put together a new use for preexisting technologies at that time but he did not departed from zero, yet he invented the "Motorwagen". Then if someone else improves on that design that person could claim an innovation over the Motorwagen. In order to innovate nobody needs to invent everything from zero but just to improve the existing design or find a new use for it.

And Apple's great innovation on the iphone 5? Twofold, 1) A crappy inaccurate mapping program and 2) They put a number '5' on it instead of a '4S'.... 'Innovation' like that, we don't need.

Do you feel betrayed or very disappointed by brands like Ford, Audi, Asus, Sony, Samsung or every other one in the marked today for not coming up with a device or product they could call an invention on every model or iteration every single year? And do you buy based on plain advertisement?

Do they really need to prove to the public they invent or create a new model every year? No.
But you keep buying from them every time you can.

But mostly every year they all add, create, invent or improve something on their products. Sometimes is a new technology, a new process and sometimes is a combination of improvements. But also sometimes a technology is not ready or has its flaws. And that happened to me with an INTEL MOBO and I have a defective one, but I don't feel betrayed by INTEL because this MOBO is working fine on all the features I use all the time.

The iPhone in general is an Apple invention and it doesn't matter if the iPhone "5" is not another Apple revolution in the model or in the industry, just as a new Ford Mustang doesn't need to be a revolution with every new model every year. But the Mustang in general is mostly associated with a creative success and considered as a legend.

[citation][nom]jecastej[/nom]Innovation is not to invent something from zero as no single human could claim any invention under this premise. Also asking a premium price for a product is as old as civilization.Apple didn't invent the tablet or the smartphone or even the digital music player but then they created their own solution and those products succeeded as commercial devices where others didn't have the same success. Say all what you want but Apple innovated or improved on certain areas on those devices that made them attractive to regular users, and yes that is innovation. You wouldn't say Mercedes, Toyota or Lamborghini are not innovators because they didn't invent the automobile. They created their own versions and became very good at it and they ask for the premium price anytime their vehicles offer premium features. Is up to every person to consider, buy and ultimately make it a success or a failure. But I guess by your standard if you buy a sport car or any luxury or fancier product at all then you feel you are buying a faked none original, overpriced product. You hate it and will never stop. So you will never buy a premium chocolate that is not the cheapest and the original product. And for the real point in this article we as a society need to redefine constantly how are we going to deal with technology or design as the boundaries are getting very complex and there always exist the risk from some opportunists. So let see how all this patten war lead us to redefine new rules, hopefully.[/citation]
Yet when someone innovates something that came from Apple, it's not called innovation but copying.

Actually that's inaccurate. Karl Benz didn't invented the first self-propelled vehicle. They existed more than a century earlier, perhaps even two centuries earlier, using steam engines. Prior to Benz Patent-Motorwagen, it also existed electric cars and cars with internal combustion engines. It was however the first gasoline powered vehicle, and the first vehicle to truly go into production.

Most people I know don't buy the Mustang with every new model that comes out like isheep do with the iphone.

why was a cease and desist order not issued to apple to stop doing this company wide?

seems to me some kind of per hit/click deal should be made as a fine against apple.

[citation][nom]baconeater[/nom]If you're not from America ignore this:
Look I understand the Apple hate and everything. I am by no means an Apple user of any sort. But you guys are looking at this all wrong.....[/citation]
Duuuude.. you sent chills down my spine! For a moment there I thought Steve was making a speech from the other side... burrrrrr

It is very naive to take for granted an argument is acceptable or reasonable just because is a critic or a position for something Apple do, or because someone use an Apple product.

Sometimes there is not even an argument, just the default hate for everything Apple. And why such a personal trouble make your argument valid?

This is nothing to do with Apple. Mostly of them are from Microsoft camp or Linux. Generally, many people are like that, if we take the nature (jealousy, hate etc) into consideration. They just assume, stick labels, try to throw mud at the people (just for buying some Apple product!) and what not :)

These people badly needed someone to take on Apple because Microsoft has lost its game in some ways. Their Windows 8 is a definite NO for me (won't abandon Win 7 Pro 100+ machines). Also, Linux distro (DESKTOP) is no where in terms of success compared. Of late, we all know how Apple did damage to the Linux Desktop initiative.

Since early 2011 there is change in the Mobile landscape, that credit goes to Google/Samsung et al for their Android success with Phones. Later came Tablets. Definitely Apple's sales taking hit for sure. So you see, now these people have the reason to celebrate. Not because of Samsung or some other company but it's all about Apple's loss of share etc. Trust me, Samsung is no holy cow!

IMO, any good technology fn will remain mostly unbiased if not 100%. He/she doesn't whine/cry or try be selective/biased towards a product/company or choosy or try to use a point when it serves their purpose and so on. I use Apple products, Microsoft OSes, and mostly Linux on many machines/servers and on two Clusters. Samsung CE devices too. Also, we still use Sun Solaris because I still love Sun Microsystems a lot. Don't paint every one black just because he/she likes/buys Apple product. Don't dare to tag such people as Apple fanboy etc load of crap :)

I hope it is no to late for you to read this post.

I use and love both my Wintel machine I builded for 3D and my Mac for general use. When I go to Mac sites most people brag about how a mac/osx is superior, iOS, iDevices, etc. And when I come to more broad open information sites like Toms is just the same. These people bites very hard about very little. But in the end I just read trying to find useful feedback and mostly have to read over a pile of meaningless personal feelings!!

Cheers!!, to everybody and count on my to point more and more about this in the future.

Sorry, with "is just the same", I mean Apple haters brag about their superiority too.

Both sides get heavily viral, but the arguments are lacking more and more. Using a device is getting a religious dimension, an act of faith with preachers and prayers on both sides. I am sorry I am a fan of technology too and my religious ideas and feelings are a different matter.

I agree with all of that Apple didn't invent anything. The touchscreen, mp3 player, cellular modem, headphones, and phones have all been invented before apple. But they put it together in an innovative way. It's like music, ABSOLUTELY none of the bands out now invented any instruments or chords, they have been around forever. But (very debatable) they come out with new music.

Apple should be anti-competitive, but i'm sure at least 50% of you are using Windows, and Microsoft in the last 20 years has been the most anti-competitive companies out. How many monopoly suits have they seen in their time?
