So being the bargain hunter I am, I saw a listing for a computer. The original price was 5 hundred, but the person will now part it out.
What is a fair value for these three components, I know that the 4670k is better if buying new. Thanks!

Motherboard- ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 LGA 1155
Processor- Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz
CPU Water Cooler- CORSAIR Hydro Series H100 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler

530 w will be fine, with 2 caveats
1) any overclocking headroom may be limited by your power supply instead of thermally or due to due to stabilty, So your OCs might be less than stellar.

2) PSUs degrade somewhat over time so 530w may be >500w someday and you may one day need to upgrade it. Though whether that time is before or after you might upgrade anyway is impossible to say

Nearly my exact parts...IMO, I wouldnt pay more than 70% of their current new pricing.

Mobo: ~180.00
CPU: ~140.00
Cooler: ~70.00

he wants 250. I think it is safe since he is selling the computer working as a whole first, instead of just selling a burnt out cpu and motherboard itself.
Anyhow i will try to muscle an ssd in for 275 or see for 225. I have time to negotiate.
Thanks for the input, 250 seemed just a little high since it is a dead socket but damn that is an expensive motherboard.
I never understand why people buy those super expensive motherboards instead of an i7 and a decent board. Oh well Thanks.

Btw... is there a way to see the temps or the wear physically or internally when under a cpu tool. Thanks

Nothing like that, if you can have him run a few things with a temp monitor runing, then a stability test like prime95 and watch his temps, that will have been the maximum his computer experienced, and youll also get an idea of his ave temps. somthing below 40-50 during everyday things and less than 75 peak during prime95 would be fine

He will run a couple programs for me. It will probably be all good. If not Ill just pass and get an i5-4670k from microcenter with another motherboard for around 300. Then pick up an evo when I need to overclock. Also sorry If I put this in the wrong section.

So do you think 250 is a good price. He wants 500 for the whole deal. It seems like a fair price considering the other pieces.

Both prices are fine with the whole package probably being the better deal if you dont already have any parts. All told however it not particularly good or bad deal as long as the parts are in good condition, it really depends on where you live at and how local prices are. for instance, if you live somewhere rural its a better deal because less people tend to have gaming computer parts etc.

I live in the city so competing sellers drive the price fairly low for used parts. but if your somewhere rural its a better deal for you than it would be for me since it isnt likely you will find a similar offer of someone selling a gaming computer in the near future.

One last question. i have an xfx 550w power supply with 530 watts on 12v rail. Will a gtx 760 and this motherboard cpu and cooler overclocked be too much for the power supply. I only have 2 case fans, and one hdd and one disk drive. Nothing too extravagant.

i think the xfx has a good 5 year warranty i forgot to register for. I could probably harass customer service if needed. Anyway, I do not feel the need to overclock but wanted to know If i could safely pull off a mild overclock.
