Question Apps & Games randomly close and I can't find out why ?

hello.

this has been a massive pain for awhile and i have just felt so annoyed and lost on this.

it all started with my browsers randomly closing. no crash or error just closing. then it became discord. then it became random applications. then it became games. i tried and tried to fix it but was loosing my mind and just gave in and took it to a repair person. they found 2 sticks of my ram was dead and when they gave it back to me it seemed to be working but wasnt. the tarkov launcher for example was freezing. games would just close mid game. etc.

so i ran mem test this morning and it said everything looked fine. then i updated the BIOS but nothing changed, next my graphics which i update avidly, then my cpus chipset driver, but when i updated my CPU with amd store.mi it bluescreened me, thankfully i fixed that. but that aside the issue still persists and isnt going away.

my specs are
auros trx40 master.
amd 3970x threadripper.
64 gigs of trident z neo ram
samsung 980 pro 2 tb ssd
geforce rtx 3090
power supply is a corshair 1200w
windows 10

checking my games dmp file it shows this:

it looks like windows is the problem... strange

Try this and see if it helps
right click start button

choose powershell (admin)

copy/paste this command into window:

Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth

and press enter

Then type SFC /scannow

and press enter

Restart PC if SFC fixes any files as some fixes require a restart to be implemented

First command repairs the files SFC uses to clean files, and SFC fixes system files

SFC = System File Checker. First command runs DISM - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/what-is-dism?view=windows-11

rcbottom appears to be a raid driver... you only have 1 drive. Its normally used for 2 or more drives. And its not much use on nvme as they fast enough already. You shouldn't need it installed.

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) AMD-RAID Bottom Device storage controller drivers

when i updated my proccessors with amd store.mi it bluescreened me, thankfully i fixed that.
How did you fix it as rcbottom likely part of storemi

unless you also installed them from https://www.gigabyte.com/au/Motherb...rev-10/support#support-dl-driver-sataraidahci

have you run magician on the nvme? its got diagnostics - https://semiconductor.samsung.com/consumer-storage/support/tools/

i diagnosed the nvme and everything looked good, i also checked in bios and sata isnt on raid. nor can i find any rcbottom file in system 32. but for some reason i cant get ayd dump files from the crashing today. since i deleted storemi atleast. you said it might be the OS? since i updated my chipset driver it finally says i can upgrade to win 11, do you think that might somehow help. however i also found this under one of the games crash reports

[CrashReportClient]
bHideLogFilesOption=false
bIsAllowedToCloseWithoutSending=true
CrashConfigPurgeDays=2

the nvme doesn't use sata so it wouldn't show there.

If the problem survives a clean install of windows 10, its not likely to be software.
Generally hardware faults are only things that survive a reinstall.
That or if you have a USB wifi adapter that always uses same drivers... but generally its hardware.

they found 2 sticks of my ram was dead and when they gave it back to me it seemed to be working but wasnt.
How did they replace the ram? Are all 4 sticks the same? Did they replace the entire 4 stick set with a new set? AMD systems are picky about ram. If they just gave you two sticks that aren't part of the set, that can cause problems for AMD systems.

it was a set of 4 trident z neo 32 gig sticks but the repair guy took 2 out and left the other 2 in that were still working
did he give you back the broken ones?

ram has a life long warranty, if you can prove its broken all you need is proof of purchase and you can send all the sticks back for a replacement. No need to only use 64gb if you paid for 128gb

I would check the two installed ones:

Try running memtest86 on each of your ram sticks, one stick at a time, up to 4 passes. Only error count you want is 0, any higher could be cause of the BSOD. Remove/replace ram sticks with errors. Memtest is created as a bootable USB so that you don’t need windows to run it

I ran Memtest86 and it showed only the same sticks of them were broken, but I'm still stuck on the issues. but then I just got a sign and I'm not sure if this is the answer, but my pc decided to force restart on me, I've had a Bsod in the past that I thought I had fixed but things like I said got weird with the issues.
However now today my pc shut off. this tells me something definitely is wrong with my PSU. but I'm not sure if a faulty PSU could cause browsers to randomly close as I type in them, sure it might be why certain games randomly crash or freeze from requiring more power.

however, I feel it doesn't explain some of the miniscule, weird issues. Even discord will randomly restart a few times. games closing on me at random. I can't play most games, but I can run "the robox block clicking game" fine for some reason with lacking fps. Although I can also play war thunder but sometimes it crashes. Most other games I can't even attempt to play without crashing instantly or in a few minuets. I have had so many small issues with certain things on this pc its left me so confused so many times like how a game launcher before I could install would randomly freeze, or my port forwarding wouldn't work when i set it up properly.

another thing I just noticed, and this can be when I'm up to anything on my pc. it'll randomly go-slow motion and stutter everything. it's so weird to describe but it's like a second or two. and the audio glitches out with spacing in the sound.

i used to get a random latency spike on my last CPU that messed up sound but it was thought to be caused by fTPM which should be off on your PC since you have win 10.

PSU is sort of centre of a lot of things. I won't say its cause as they difficult to test. You need a multimeter really as the only other tests I have just prove it works. https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-manually-test-a-power-supply-with-a-multimeter-2626158

If you hadn't already taken PC to a repair store I would suggest that instead of trying to work out whats going on.

hmm, I wonder if that means its might be caused by something you plug in.

or do you use a power board?

As I have had problems that were only identified by me taking PC out of its ordinary environment and working perfectly.

in one case it was a mouse but it wasn't causing these errors.

wait wait, you think a thing being plugged in. can cause ALL this? woah holy thats insane. also quick update I had my pc do the craziest thing on me. i was loading up kenshi and the game crashed. but i let it close like bruh maybe my kenshi file was corrupted but when i went to use my browser it did the typical freeze and crash like always. but after it happened i wasnt able to click things. well, i was able to click certain things. specifically hot bar. i managed to open task manager using the shortcut but i couldnt click anything in it. and the only way i could hop between windows was alt tabbing through things i had open. but it was so strange as i had little things i could click. like suddenly i could drag a window. but after a reboot it disappeared
