APU Graphics, what does the spec actually mean?

For instance, I was looking at the AMD A10-7850K Kaveri 12. It says it has Radeon R7 series graphics built in. Does that mean it will perform as well as an AMD R7 250 GPU? Thanks!

for the most part that is what it means. performance will be less due to ram limitations but it will be similar. apu's like fast ram and lots of it. remember that whatever ram the gpu gets, the rest of the system does not get to use. so 8 gb total with 2 gb for the gpu means only 6 gb for the rest of the system. i think the cap is 2.5 gb for the gpu but i could be mistaken.

these apu's are good for office and htpc's but not for gaming. r7 is low end already and won't offer very good performance for very long. look at the fx-6300 or the new x4 860k and a discrete gpu for a gaming build at lower budgets

OK. So a game that specifies a Radeon 7750 GPU for running it could also be ran smoothly with an APU specified with Radeon 7750 Graphics?

benchmarks i have seen show average 1080p performance for the apu's which means middle settings without the eye candy. they do better at lower than 1080p for this reason.

but yah if it says minimum is a 7750, the r7 is the newer variant and only a bit slower than the 7750 so it would work.

In this case yes, they are pretty similar in graphics performance with the r7 250 being a bit better.
