Hello,

I don't know anything about fans. I would like to get new fans to make my pc quieter so i'm looking to get this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/ARCTIC-F8-...NTUJG62/ref=psdc_430499031_t1_B00IOIJ4AC?th=1

Will this work well both as a CPU cooling fan and as a case fan? I've checked and both are 4 pin as is this one. Getting a 5 pack so I can change all 4 fans in my two machines.

Edit: should have been clearer in original post. My machine is Dell optiplex 3040 (SFF) and dell optiplex 390 (DT). Both have two 80x80x25mm fans each. One on the front, and one on the CPU. I'm thinking of replacing them all with these arctic fans if they will do the job.
Thanks!

Should work fine so long as you have verified size and pin format.

For the CPU cooler, you are likely going to have to utilize some zip tie or other method to attach them.

What is your current cooler and size of fan?

You can generally "Jimmy" a fan to a cooler. In some cases the fan is held to (such as cooler tower) by a couple of small metal clips such that a same size fan can be installed. If it's something like the Intel stock cooler you may have to rig it up a bit.

Note that these are 80mm fans.

Aside from that, I enjoy Arctic fans and utilize them in my builds often.

For case cooling you want larger size fans - max size supported by your pc case.
For example - 80mm fans have to spin faster to push same amount of air as 120mm fans at lower spin speeds.
80mm fans will be louder because of this.

Updated original post. Should have been clearer :). All 4 fans on the machines are 80x80x25mm fans. 3 of the 4 fans are 4 pin fans. the 4th fan is only 3 pin but i oiled this one yesterday and it's quiet so it doesn't need replacing.

Will the arctic ones work in my machine if the size is right and the pins match?

Just so you are aware, the F series fans are slower (and quieter) where the P series fans are the faster spinning ones. I am not sure if you verified which speed you were specifically after but felt I should mention it. The P8's are available in a 5 pack as well.
Ah crap! I wasn’t aware but am now. Already placed an order for the F8 fans. My machine usage is such that the fan never revs up really high, and i’m after a quieter fan so think f8 is preferable. That said, the P8 is optimised for heatsinks. Will I have issues if I use the F8 with a heat sink? Will it be better than the stock dell fans at least?

Given the potential difference in fan speed I likely would not do so. You could cause an overheat under heavy load. I think the F should do fine for the case fans. I utilize them specifically for that purpose.

Can I use the P8 fans for both the heat sink and as a case fan? I've cancelled the F8 order and am now thinking of getting this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07XL9SQ3N

Edit: just checked the specs on arctic website. both the F8 and P8 have a sound rating of 0.3 Sones, so noise wise they are identical.
