i am planing to get a new monitor and i am a bit confused between 4k and 1440p??bcz in big tvs 4k looks much better but will i fell the difference in a 27-34 inch screen??or should i go for 1440p??

i have gtx 970 sli as gpu

4k TV's are just a gimmick, they use them to prove how good they are if consumers sit close to them. The demos are literally "stand 1 foot away from the display and you won't be able to see pixels". Absolutely ridiculous, the only reason I personally am excited about is Passive 4k TV's due to 1920x1080 for each eye, I believe this is worth talking about. But noo, I bet you they already have demos of their 8k+ TV sets with a live demo for people to stand as close so their nose pokes the screen, and you can't see pixels, whoa!

Oh, in a monitor. That makes even less sense. From a normal seating distance which is typically 3-4 feet, there can be some benefit, but really. The amount of resources required to drive these displays at settings that make the games look stunning, is just not worth it- yet. If for whatever reason you move away from your high resolution monitor, you wouldn't be able to read the text on it unless you wear binoculars.

I tend to disagree Suzuki .
Im sitting in front of a 24 inch 1080p monitor and I can see the pixels . If the screen got bigger and the resolution stayed the same that is only going to get worse .
But I also have doubts that 4K gaming is practical . The graphics horsepower required is out of reach of most people

i have already said that i have 970 sli which is enough for current games to run at 4k
so what do u suggest finally??4k or 1440p for a 34 inch screen??

you talking about ultrawide 1440p 34" monitors? the ones with 21:9 asp. ratio?
check games you gonna play, cuz not all games gonna be 21:9
so that might help you choose.

what display type is the 4k monitor? TN works best for gaming or so I've heard.
IPS isn't too good for gaming, so you might be better off with a VA display on ultrawide..

IPS is fine for gaming, TN tends to have less input lag than IPS, but IPS looks a hell of alot better.
and I say TN "tends to" not always has. my 27" 1440p 2ms response time competes with that of alot of TN monitors.
wish I had a link to my monitor but there very very rare, Could'nt find this monitor anywhere on the interwebs.

Any pricing on that ASUS? I'm also in the market for a ultrawide disp. I've been looking at the following:

Acer XR341CKA (just announced/ IPS @ 1440p/ if you 1.3k to throw at it/ I think 75Hz/ G-Sync/Curved) 4ms
Samsung 34" S34E790C (avaliable/ VA panel @ 1440p/ 1k price/ Curved) 4ms
HP Envy 34c 34" Media Display(avaliable/ VA panel @ 1440p/1k price/ Curved)
-HP one got some unnecessary speakers on it...its only flaw for me
