Are evga power supplies good?

Hi, I am thinking of upgrading my corsair 750m to a 700-750 watt evga psu. Now you may be asking why, well, I've have a cx 500, cx 750, and a cx 750m. All emitted a high pitched noise. While I don't have random shutdowns or my computer doesn't go to sleep randomly, I expected more from corsair ( even though they don't manufacture the PSUs ), I stressed it by running my friend's 780 on crysis 3 for 2 hours, and nothing went wrong or anything like that. So, are evga psu good, or better then the ones that shall not be named I have had?

The CX line is for low-end builds and not for performance builds. So you shouldn't blame Corsair on it. It's like trying to play Watch Dogs in Ultra with a weak graphics card. You can't blame the graphics card being bad. It's a bad choice on your end.

The EVGA Supernova G2 series are among the best on the market today. That is quite a limited selection though. Other options are Seasonic, Corsair HX/AX, XFX, Antec, OCZ.

A good deal on a Antec High Current Gamer 750W ($75 after MIR). It is also semi-modular.

Thanks man, it's just everyone is all "corsair is amazing"! 3 PSUs from them squealing, and after searching around turns out i'm not the only one who's had this problem! I love my keyboard and my case from Corsair, I just guess PSUs aren't their bag. Overall, it's just I want a psu that I can trust, and doesn't squeal, and reading professional reviews it seems they make great PSUs (EVGA)

I would say it would fit without a problem. That case looks humongous -- it's so empty. 😛

it's a 350d by corsair! Thanks , yes I know 850 w is overkill but I am "future proofing" (I hate that word) Also yes the mobo is micro atx

Last question, I see the SuperNOVA 850G2 has a switch for an echo mode? Do you have an idea of what it does?

I think you meant "Eco Mode". It means that below a certain threshold, the fan will be turn off. So on low usage, the fan will be turned off.

Yeah it's good to see some newer options. For a while, it has just been mostly Seasonic, Seasonic, Seasonic as far as OEM goes.

For the G2 / P2 series. I don't remember T2's OEM. But no, Super Flower does not make all of EVGA's PSUs.

I still have the receipts and everything for the cx 750m , do you think newegg will rma it?

So a psu squealing isn't a defection? The cx 500 my friend has NEVER squealed

Corsair gave me a full refund. Even if it's my fault for buying a less than good quality product, I guess it would look bad for corsair to say it's normal to squeal, that would be them saying it's natural for one of their products to come with an undesirable affect

I really wish I bought the EVGA SuperNOVA 750G2 in the 1st place instead of a cx 750 I'm only paying 12$ more, and I am getting a fully modular one as opposed to a semi modular, and it appears I am receiving a fantastic build quality. Every review whether it be by a customer on amazon and newegg, or a professional review like Johnny guru, they all say it's great. I'm not going to buy another corsair psu, even the tx series have a large amount of reviews complaining of high pitched noises, and that's their "Enthusiast" grade series. I would buy another corsair psu if they change their OEMs. Still this doesn't mean I hate all corsair products, I love my k70 keyboard, and my 350d case is awesome. Also, the reason I chose the 750 w model instead of 850 is 850 seems overkill ,and I never overclock or run SLI/Crossfire. Thanks for all the help!

I'm on the market for a 650 watt PSU. My current PSU is giving problems, one of which is the plug design on the PSU end of the modular plugs. They are wearing out! They are a pressure fit with no clips or locks and the pressure is all but gone in a couple, causing random disconnects. Fun stuff in a PSU. I hope the new designs (this thing is 12 years old) are better. The wear is strange because assembly/modifications have been minimal. Good luck!
