Are Motherboards backwardly compatible

I have a i7-3770 gen3 cpu... are motherboards with the LGA1155 for gen 4, 5 or 6 usable

Boards with socket LGA 1155 should work some might require a BIOS update.
Simple way to look it up is go to the manufactures site and look at the CPU support for the exact board your looking at.
