Are my fans messed up on my pc?

When my computer isnt running any games the fans are pretty damn loud but as soon as i launch a game the fans quiet down which doesnt really make any sense as it seems it should be the other way around. is this a potential problem or is this usual?

Z97S sli krait, whats weird though is this wasnt a problem before its only become apparent after I changed pc cases
