Refurb for $300, new for $340.
Refurb warranty - 6 months
New warranty - 3 years.

Personally, I'd go with the New. Not enough of a price difference for me.
Personally, I would purchase a factory refurbished GPU. However, I would only consider buying it directory from the company and also, I wouldn't pay $299.00 for a refurbished GTX 970. I've pasted a great official EVGA GTX 970 SSC. If you're interested, I recommend that you purchase it ASAP, as it's likely to sell out in just hours from now. Please keep in mind that it does not come with a steam code for a free game.

EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SSC ACX 2.0+ (b-stock)
$259.99

WELL.. It really comes down to who has refurbished the component and what was the fault. If the product has been refurbished by the manufacturer then there is a great possibility that it will come back safer than even a new component. The reason is that fault components receive more extensive repair procedures and they are checked until it is ensured that the problem is resolved. Then the manufacturer will probably renew the component's warranty period, so basically you have nothing to loose.

If the component has been refurbished by the seller, then I wouldn't suggest to proceed with the purchase. I believe the reasons are obvious.

Hope this helps!
