Is it necessary? No.
Does it make the whole system run and feel faster? Yes.
Specifically, for games...your level load times will decrease. Maybe a LOT.
FPS change? Not so much.
But if you can be first (or at least not last) into a new level...all the better for you.

Not necessary, but they are incredibly fast compared to a 7200. Putting Windows and games on a SSD will show incredible performance gains on load times and file transfers. As mentioned previously, it doesn't help graphics.
