Question Are there any cheaper solutions to buying a new motherboard and cpu?

Hey! I have been researching a bunch and I can't find an answer to if I can plug a USB 3.2 Gen 1 to a USB 2.0 or will I need an adapter which I can't find. On my motherboard I have 2x USB 2.0 ports and 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A, my case needs a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A and a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C. I have looked and found a solution but it would cost me 150 dollars. (new CPU and motherboard) So before I buy those, let me know if I can have a cheaper solution to it please!

USB is forwards and backwards compatible.
If it fits, it works.

Of course, the 'speed ' of whatever you're doing is limited by the slowest device in the chain.
