Are there any risks of installing LiteStep onto your computer?

Hi! I have a Windows 7 and I'm thinking of changing my computer's shell skin to LiteStep.
But I have a few concerns that keep me from making that decision finally; are there any risks of installing LiteStep or basically any alternative shell to your computer? Like, would it cause my computer to crash and fail to boot up again, or render it useless in some other way? I'm kind of overprotective of my computer a little bit lol

I wouldn't risk it as shell replacements usually overwrite several system files, and although there will probably be an "undo" option somewhere, it's far from foolproof. At the very least you should backup your system (entire disk image) before trying LiteStep or similar utilities.

In the days before I knew better, I tried something similar which made Windows XP look like Windows Vista. It had a few glitches I couldn't live with so I clicked on "Undo Changes" - - I ended up having to re-install XP from scratch. A 3-day job to get all my apps re-installed.

My advice - - resist the temptation if you can.
