[SOLVED] Are there CPU socket adapters?

I'm wondering if there's an adapter out there that would fit into an LGA1155 socket and take input from an LGA 2011-1 socket. I doubt it, but if so, please let me know.

No.

This used to actually be a thing a long time ago, but that was before many of the functions that are currently integrated in CPUs were actually part of CPUs. The difference between CPUs is a lot more than different pins.

Using the example of trying to convert an LGA2011 CPU into a LGA1155 socket, you encounter several problems such as:

• Not enough power lines to feed the CPU
• Not enough pins for the CPU's PCIe lanes
• The motherboard is wired up for dual channel memory, LGA 2011 uses quad-channel

Oh, and there's the fact that the motherboard's firmware has no idea what an LGA2011 CPU is.

Adding to what's been said...

In addition to the other reasons mentioned...I think that having the memory controller integral to the CPU package made it impossible to even consider interposer type socket adapters. The timing and signal integrity needed by memory data path lines...and the high speed data path to the FCH and PCIe as well...are way too critical to function with one in the way.
