Rammy :
@ Lefty666 -
I'm not sure you understand how exchange rates work. Prices in the US are significantly lower than in the UK, mainly due to taxes, but also due to things like discounts+rebates which are more prevalent across the pond.
Random example - GTX780 - US price $450, UK Price - £340 ($580). i5-4570K - US price $220, UK price £156 - $267.
Depending on the item, you are looking at around 20-30% extra.
I think you are also confusing international voltages.
Here's a link. Most of the world runs in the 200-240V range, the UK uses 230V 50Hz. Traditionally PSUs might have had a switch for 115V and 230V crossover, but most of them do it down automatically so are pretty universally compatible, the only exception I can think of being the Corsair VS series which are only sold in areas which use the higher voltage as they aren't compatible with 115V. There are small gains to be made running on a higher voltage, which is why the 80Plus efficiency standard is
higher for 230V than it is for 115V, I'm no expert but I'd assume this is related to static losses from components like Diodes (0.7V) which are a smaller percentage to a higher voltage. You'd have to be spending thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of dollars per month on electricity before you started to notice the difference.
You also seem very confused about the difference between watts and volts, and how many of either you actually need. Assuming you are running two GTX Titan Z, you only need a single PSU, and adding a third would make absolutely no sense for anything other than mining/processing, as diminishing returns from 6-way SLI (effectively) will add near to nothing.
I maintain Corsair currently only sell three Seasonic made units - the HX650, AX760 and AX860 - so suggesting that a lot of their models are Seasonic made is a bit misleading.
Equally so is suggesting that they offer a 7year warranty. On a lot of their mainstream PSUs, they only offer 3 years, which is often below their competition.
I also wouldn't knock rebranded units. I personally own an XFX unit (made by Seasonic) which has arguably been the best entry level PSU on the market for the last few years. XFX are a great PSU brand because they use a single, highly respected, OEM, meaning you can basically recommend anything they make. It's an awful lot easier than saying "some Antec, some Corsair, some EVGA, some Rosewill, some NZXT" etc, as naming conventions make it incredibly confusing.
I'm not bashing Corsair, but I do think it's important to make clear that Corsair is not a buzzword for quality/consistency. They have some excellent products - some of their cases, fans and high end PSUs are very good quality, but these often come in at a price premium which makes them a little questionable as "must-buys". That's why I say that I wouldn't buy much of theirs, not because I don't like their brand/products, but because there is usually a credible alternative at a better price.
Hey Rammy,
Thanks for str8ening me out on th echange Policy, not the rates. Acoording to the Echange Rate of the US Dollar To The British Sterlin Pound is US is $0.58 Cent to 1 British Pound.
Or Are they using Euro's??? Which is a diff story!!
OK I just read what you wrote again and now I got you!!! They are charging More than they charge here, so the Diff in the Exchange rate doesn't really matter if they're charging 20-30% more for the same products we are getting. Correct?
And hahaha I'm a Union Electrician and u just blew me away. lol I knew that in the US when we say it run's a 100 ,it's stepped down from 120, the same fro 200 , it's 240. So maybe that's WHERE I GOT CONFUSED.SHIT SORRY CAPS
Also in the US Commercial side of electric, with the 240 V we, Run 208 and 277, which are not in homes atall. Them V's are for exit signs, some fan motors , things like that.
So, 230V to me, is weird, because like I said we usually step it down to 220 and most of our electronics can fluxuate up n down which is not good for our electronic devices at all!!! Tha's why they sell Power Conditioners, Voltage Regulators. Because if whatever is supposed to run at 110 and it drops down to 107, it can do a lot of diff things to certain units,,,,,,,,,,as I think you know!!! Your right on and know ur shit!!! Which is refreshing!!!! So TY fr str8ening me out on that. I thought they ran 220, not 230.
As far as the PSU's. I know that The AX 1200i was made by Flextronics or is it Plextronics, and a few units are made by SS, and so on.
I know Exactly what you mean how certain co's have a Specialty. Meaning they're known for their Memory.......then to get in on the rest of te Products on the Market, they will put out PSU"s GPU"s and so on.
And Dude.....Cmon lol....I'm not an idiot (Completely anyway lol), but I'm putting in 2 PSU's no way 3
although ther are cases that actualy have 3 PSU slots for example
http://www.caselabs-store.com/magnum-tx10-v/
I mean Cmon......Why???
OK I am guilty of using 2 PSU's, I plan on using 1 ffor my main Board and the PWN Fans, & GPU's, and by the way, I just watched a vid on the GTX Titan Z. The guys eviewing it say your better off buying 2 78o TI's or 2 Titan Blacks . You'll get better performace ans save over a Thousand Bucks. So I'm stil doing research B4 making a Huge Mistake!!
The 2nd PSU is going to power my 2 Loops and all the rest of my fans. OK Granted it may be Overkill, but This is the Build I've Always wanted to Build. And with my health, this will most likely be my last Personal Build. I'll still take orders and build for friends. But I plan on having 2 480's and a 360 all in p/p. That rite ther is 22 fans. Then on the PSU side of the case, there is room for 4 more fans in the fron n 1 in the rear........so that's 27 fans lol........I know it's Crazzzy, but, I'm building it!!! The Good thing about this case I'm using http://www.caselabs-store.com/magnum-th10a/ &
http://www.caselabs-store.com/pedestal-extended/
It's My Dream Build! I mean if you look at the case it's nothing special, but what I like about it is the fact that you can have your system run for 5 years, and as long as they don't totally change where the Processor and the GPU's go, I'll b able to just undo al the water hookups, slide out the MB Tray, chang the Chip ( Put a new Proc in a new MB), Slide back in, n just hook up the loops. Hopefully without having to repipe it too much lol, especially since I'm using Rigid Acrylic lol.
So, I just want to get 2 more builds in ten years time....then I can leave it to my Son n he can do whatever he wants with it!!! It just seems the way to go for me. I'm still picking out parts, watching and reading on ALOT of products, and I agree wiit you that each company has a specialty, but they want in on ALL the products on the market. Even if they don't make it, they can slap their name on it and it will sell.......just because of the name.
You seem like a Really Nice Guy!!!! And it was a Pleasure getting this email from you!!!
Just as a fact of what we are talking about.......u c all the typo's.......well I'm using a Corsair K50 Raptor Keyboard, and I wanna tie it to my boat hitch n drag it around town lol.......every f in key sticks!!!!!
So there you go, just because a companies name is on it, doesn't mean it's the best!!!
Hey Please keep in touch??? I could really use a kick in the ass sometimes and I'd like to go over my parts list with you n let me know what you think. Please? I would Really Appreciate it Very Much!!!
I'm actually about to take apart my case and I'm lining it with 3 diff Diamond Plate Stick on stuff. I'm Liing the back with a Gunmetal DP, The MB Tray I'm using Chrome DP. and I have some Red left over from a build I just did for a friend
that I'm gona use on the bottom plates. They used to sell a quad cover for the bottom leading into the Pedstal, n it had 4 3/4 holes with Rubber Grommets. Well of coarse with my luck, they don't have the holes in it anymore????
And I need the holes to bring the flextube up , so I have to drill out the 4 holes n Amazon has a ton of grommet kits, so I have some work to do.
But TY for letting me know I was wrong. I mean if they ( Over the pond) could get their prts at the EX Rate of 58 cents to a pond, they could build a PC for half the price we pay!
Here is a link I think you'll like about how to find out who mfct ur PSU.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/psu-manufacturer-oem,2729.html
I think on page 4 is where he shows you how to fig out who made it!!! Great talkin to ya! Hope to talk again!!!
