Are these actually different socket CPUs or is Amazon being shady?

I've been having several problems with my computer recently that I outlined in this thread and I think that I finally pinned the problem down to my computer having the wrong socket CPU. My motherboard is an LGA 1151 socket and my processor is an LGA 14C socket CPU, a socket I that I didn't even know existed and one that I've found absolutely no information about. I only found out about it because Intel's warranty site listed it as an LGA 14C CPU.
I finally got a replacement from Amazon but Intel's warranty site also lists the new one as an LGA 14C socket CPU, and now I'm a bit confused. Are the two sockets actually the same and just different names or something, or has Amazon swindled me out of £300?
The CPU I bought is (or should be) an i7-6700K.

Solution

Same CPU, description of the second one is "Processor socket: LGA1151"

Neither of them is actually sold by Amazon so not sure what you mean by Amazon being...

No, I sent a sternly worded email to Amazon and they sent me a free replacement, I just have to send the old one back.

I really doubt it. Like I said, the CPU I bought is (or should be) an i7-6700k. I didn't even know what Xeon was until now. The CPU I bought was this one, but the ones I actually have seems to be closer to this, even though the boxes for both the CPU's I have at the minute, one of which I have to send back, clearly list them as i7-6700k CPUs.
I'm very confused.

Well, they are exactly the same. In both links, it is mentioned that the CPU is an 'i7-6700k' where one possibly comes with retail packaging and the other in OEM packaging. If they seem to be the same, then there should be nothing to worry about.

I'll take your word for it but I'm still very sceptical about all of this. I'll try and install the newer processor now alongside my new beefy CPU cooler and just hope all is well. If I keep having trouble then I'll try buying a different motherboard, I have heard some bad things about Asus mobo's.

CM8066201919901 is an OEM/tray microprocessor
BX80662I76700K is a boxed processor without fan and heatsink (English version)
BXC80662I76700K is a boxed processor without fan and heatsink (Chinese version)

The cm80066201919901 is also a Engineering or qualification sample.

I am pretty certain it is just LGA 1151, the net is full of LGA14C's both in amazon and ebay. Some ebay posts have specific details like http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Boxed-Core-I5-6500-FC-LGA14C-3-20-Ghz-6-M-Processor-Cache-4-LGA-1151-BX806-/121772294294# which list it as LGA1151. (in details, not item name)
Yes, said ebay item is not I7-6700k but... the naming scheme repeats everywhere.

The big "why" of why 14C instead of 1151 still remains though.

Same CPU, description of the second one is "Processor socket: LGA1151"

Neither of them is actually sold by Amazon so not sure what you mean by Amazon being shady. It's just a vendor that listed the item on Amazon. It may help if you put in what these "several problems" are, you could very well just be buying CPUs for nothing, many people end up troubleshooting things improperly and lead to wrong items being replaced that have nothing to do with the issue or are at least very unlikely to be the issue.

Solution

Both of mine were sold and dispatched directly from Amazon.

As it turns out the problem likely was to do with my processor, as the new one I just installed is much faster and not giving me any issues that I outlined here, so it's possible I just got a faulty CPU.

Unfortunately because of the way the motherboard is laid out I can't install my new cooler, which is a bummer. But seeing as everything seems to be going okay right now, I'm going to mark this topic as solved.
