I will be creating a desktop to donate to charity, so if you could get this system any cheaper, that would be awesome.

Everything is compatible and reliable (quality parts).

How long it lasts is a pretty open ended question.

I was using a pentium 4 up until recently for very light gaming and general pc usage. Nothing lasts too long in the PC world, but it'll get you by for a while for what you plan to use it for.

I see right away your PSU is far more than you will need.

What is the purpose of the build? i.e. What will the charity use it for?

If it's general computing, you could get much cheaper. What kind of budget are you looking at?

Get like a 400-500w and it will still be more than you need... and just get ddr3-1333 ram or something, no point in 1866MHz. Maybe an even cheaper like $20-30 case too? I built my mom a computer 4 years ago using a $25 rosewill and its still holding up. Windows XP is old, unless you just had a copy laying around I would go with windows 7.

Actually, I would like the best possible computer for around $500. No intense gaming will be used, but the computer should be able to display a nice image, on a 20 inch or less monitor.

Are all of the parts compatible, and is this a reliable build? How long will it last?

Thank you so much for the quick responses, and your knowledge of computers. Wish me luck, because I am using your exact build parts for my first PC build. Thank you once again!
